As well as if you want to find out who did this to him...

what is the story about?

Well, it's set in An alternate universe version of boom mixed with some Archie comics and the games plus his siblings from underground where nobody got updated designs, but Amy is now sonic's on and off girlfriend, and goes like this,
Sonic and the gang are enjoying a walk around station square when the freedom fighters come and offer sonic and his team a place on the freedom fighters once again, they decline but the ff decide to stay for a few days to catch up with sonic, that is until eggman snaps and wants to destroy the earth, they all intervene and soon, the only ones left standing to fight eggman in his nigh indestructible robot are sonic, knuckles sally tails and Amy.
I won't spoil what causes it but something causes sonic snaps as well and turns into dark sonic, but after years of using the chaos emeralds' positive energy, the sudden explosive amount of dark energy is putting a heavy amount of strain and stress on his body.
Eggman, after getting pummeled by sonic, reveals he put a bomb big enough to level Station Square and pushes the activation button for said bomb, sonic flies the robot into space where it can cause no damage, but is unable to escape before the bomb goes off. After a few seconds sonic crashes into the street, the explosion plus the strain of his dark transformation leaving him in the state seen in your drawing.
A day later his friends are finally allowed to see him in the hospital, and it's not a pretty sight, especially after the doctors informed them that He did more to his body then he realized, he only has a few days left to live. Sonic, after making amends with his sister and brother, makes a wish right before he passes. He wished that he could relive his life again and to his suprise, his wish is granted. Young again and back to the beginning of his fight against robotnik and eggman, sonic is determined to fix all his mistakes.
That's pretty much the first few chapters of the story!

I watch different people and tell him when they are near. And sometimes its hard to watch them cry as the one they love fall in a everlasting sleep but other times, when they are reunited here, its well worth it.
