Description
This version of a manticore was referenced from a [very old] game I have called Aidyn Chronicles (on N64. true, I'm soooo not up to date as far as game consoles are concerned lol). Not one of the popular games at the time, so there might be only a few (if any) people who know of its existence
Chibified for maximum cuteness ( I tried)
My very first work that I've submitted that was finished on a Wacom tablet that I recently got and I'm still trying to get the hang of using it.
drawn with pencil, inked with micron pen (the real one this time) and colored using photoshop elements 5.0 since that's one of the programs that my tablet came with
Hope ya like

This is the only recognizable thing i've seen here on dA directly from Aidyn Chronicles. I just put the title into the search. Cute. It is an awesome game! RPGs should all have taken a clue from it's fighting system. So much more satisfying than standard turn-based battle. Once you get going and not all your attacks are misses that is, hehe.
I've spend so many hours behind the Wizard's school, fighting those Dire Wolves with that one Spirit Wolf, levelling up, hehe. On my last playthrough i ran into a save-game glitch right before entering the desert, so i will have to start over again some day. It's too bad, because i had all the stats, skills and weapons i liked, too ...

Glad you like the pic. I liked AC's fighting system as well. It was more challenging [at the time], since where you were on the the battle field (mostly the outside ones, since most indoor places were flat), and how you were positioned in melee combat was just as important as what type of weapon or spell you had to use. Add the effects of weather into the mix and it becomes pretty interesting.
I've been wanting to do more AC fanart, and maybe upload a couple of realy old ones, but aside from laziness I've been feeling a little under the weather lately.

Aww, well i can definitely understand the laziness, hehe. I've wanted to draw my own version of Keelin, and one of the ... oh i can't remember what they're called now, but the short green-skinned people. I also loved reading the books in the libraries to read the back stories and stuff about the old wizards and magic and learn about the land.
I often wonder if anything else was added to the Aidyn Chronicles, like other books or games or anything. It was a neat world to be a part of.

I love Aidyn! Great art, too.
I was just on a forum talking about AC fanart. I'm going to try doing some sometime.

Yay! I don't feel alone anymore
I kinda liked it, there were spots in it that were somewhat boring and it crashed on me a few times, but the storyline was pretty good. Those manticore things were kinda ugly lol. There were also some monsters that would look a lot cooler if the game had the graphics that are out now . I still have the game and console even though I rarely use it anymore (I such a pack rat
)
I'm glad you liked the pic, thanks

yeah, i still have the N64 and the game, too. ^^ i liked the game a lot overall, but yeah. some of the bosses/levels were SO hard. like the f-ing moblin hut on the icy mountain!! horrible! hehe. it would be cool to see the game in modern graphics. XD

Oh yeah, if I remember right his name was Kitarak or something. Fighting him was a pain. I basically had to go back where I saved earlier (thank goodness that I did so) and go back and fourth accross one of the bridges to fight the monsters there and gain experience points. Another pain in the arse was the necromancer's tower, since you can't back out once you go in. I saved after every fight or two so I won't have to go back every time my party died.

That's one thing i loved about the game - you could save at ANY time. I always loved angling the shot towards a pretty or unique site to get a nice screenshot for the save, hehe. Like the boat's sail, or the sunset, or a giant skull, or something, hehe.
My favorite part was the forbidden island. So many awesome enemies to level up with!

I liked forbidden island as well. Another good place to level up is at the jundar gate where you have to answer the riddle. I get the answers wrong on purpose just so I can fight the elementals.
I also liked going into the bandit cave in the side of the mountain, before you get to the jundar gate, just to listen to the music (which I think is pretty cool).

It's the Jundar Gate that i got stuck at - i forgot that i could answer wrong to level up - which i did do the previous playthrough - i just opted out of the question because i didn't think i was ready yet - but for some reason it used up the faery's amulet and i could no longer possibly get the answer right - shitty thing was that i saved it AFTER i opted out of the question.
But yah, i remember that. It was always fun using the Control Elemental spell on them to guide them to beat each other up, hehe.
