Description
Firing/fireball animation. Yes, our video game protagonist shot fireballs. I know, so original. This game was basically like, super mario brothers meets portal. Or maybe Galerians. Since someone here looks just a weeeee bit like another fire-happy protagonist... but then again, who doesn't love fire? We had explosions, too, for when the enemy died. That makes it damn near irresistable, man. :T/ramble

Auuuuugh, no way, man! I referenced Guilty Gear sprites the whole time, and trust me man, my work looks so amateuristic compared to theirs. ...Then again, they're pretty high up on the 2D-pixel work, so I guess I was trying to learn from the best? C:>

Even if it's "not original", I think it's great. There are tons of awesome details here, too- the way he grabs his wrist, and the way the fire goes? ajsdf;laskjdlf; SO DAMN COOL~ So many details, and just pixel art what is this I don't even ajsd;lfkja I want to play this game so bad. XD Did you make an actual, playable game in that class? I would totally want it. <3

Hahahaha, actually, we DO have a playable exe of the game... but I'm kind of meh about it since I never even finished the backgrounds/enemies so it doesn't FEEL complete to me... plus the game was kind of poorly balanced and I personally can't even beat level 2. xD;;;
But yeah, thanks! I was trying to think through a LOT when I posed him; how I wanted him to act more defensive and step back rather than forward, and so I also gave him the extra hand on his wrist for stability. I didn't want to make it look too easy, I guess... but I'm not sure how it ended up. I still need to learn a LOT about animation! O:

No, I think it turned out just how you wanted it- it doesn't look easy, it looks like it takes some effort. Just the stepping back and hand supporting the wrist helps with that.

Baaaaw, thanks dearie! It's good to know that I'm not stagnating or regressing, even when I'm in a semester where I hardly ever get to draw... =w=;;
But yeah, this is a PC game. Since we made it from scratch, there was no code to build it up from or system requirements for a specific console/platform to play the game on, and it's much easier to code for computers! xD
If you REALLY want to play it, I could link you, it's just a downloaded zip... but yeah. It feels kind of unfinished. xD

Oh, PLEASE! You've made huge leaps and bounds this semester. Maybe it's because we see so little of your art, because you rarely have time to draw and post it, but every new picture by you just makes me awe-struck all over again.

And oh, pshaaaw. I think it's also just kind of fun to fiddle with animation yourself, man. Just have the animating thing that comes with photoshop, and slap 'em together in whichever program you prefer! That's how I got by. xD

Well, I have CS3, so unless you have that I won't be too useful... but it's either a program that comes with PS or that you SHOULD be able to nab for free to add on, if I recall correctly.... so just google around, it's out there!

and like, yeah. Just show the layer you want to animate, click next frame, show the next layer you want to animate... it's pretty self-explanatory, really. And I found it surprisingly easy to use, given how utterly LITTLE sense PS makes to me, so it should be a cinch? xD

Ohboy. XD Well, I'm gonna have to stumble through this, but I want to give it a shot! And you can save it as a .gif pretty easily? :> Photoshop bewilders me and Flash does even more, so I hope I can do this.

Ohyeah, saving was a bit trickier, and I'm not sure if this is the only way, but the best method would probably be this:
->File
->Save for web and devices
and maybe it's already gif by default, maybe it's not, but that should do the trick. :>

But they were GREAT! I tried drawing feet- just FEET- walking a few steps and gave up in rage after 4 separate attempts. XDDD So the fact that you can make his whole BODY move so well is amazing. ^^ You has some skillz too.
