Description Never done this before, but I tried my hand at digital inking in Photoshop... Few issues especially flat black areas (zooming in finds more than a few pixels I missed while filling in).  Inked over a blueline (cyan) version I created from the fantastic original pencils.  Marcio Abreu basically 'inks' the drawing in pencil so all you have to concentrate on is the technique and not where to put the lines and crosshatching.

(if only I could draw as well as he does.....)

ps. Uploaded a PNG - hence the transparency... sorry...

pss.. Eclipse now stuffs up the transparency.... Oh joy

psss.  Removed transparency from PNG.. hopefully this is ok now.

For a 1st time out it's pretty good. Marcio is easily one of my fave artists.
As someone who uses a lot of his work for my hobby inking finding so much of the work is done for you is pretty good but it can also be harder to improve insight and vision because you never have to improvise.
Photoshop is a powerful tool, I do my inking as vector/vexel, which is slightly different than traditional hand drawn methods but got a few tips if you want them.
1st tip would be Layers. Don't be afraid to use them, Lock your lineart layer so you can't draw over it and then do your flats on a layer beneath it. I also do my hatching on layers above the lineart too
Look up some tutorials on Photoshop, Learn how to use the various types of masks (like clipping mask) and fills with adjustable feathering values, learn shortcuts to speed up the process.
You could also try increasing the DPI values/Scale of the original before you ink it. I find when you finish and scale back down the compressed image comes out more refined and you have less of an issue with white spots. This also allows the image to scaled later for example if its becoming a poster or A5 artbook without pixel or resolution loss.
If Inking is something you are serious about you need to invest, a decent tablet will help you out no end which i don't have that's mostly why i vector .
Anyone can draw like he does, it just requires focused dedication and daily practice for years. Very few people can just draw like that the 1st time they pick up a pencil, keep your chin, keep working hard, you'll get there if you want it enough Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback... Much appreciated...  I considered going the vector route (I used to be a wizz with vector decades ago - Freehand/CorelDraw/Illustrator) but I wanted to be able to try some digital painting/drawing hence my choice to fork out the cash for Photoshop CC.  Spent quite a bit of time going through the advice online about vector or raster for inks/colouring and to be honest its much like the old Mac/PC debate in its heyday... I figure both options have major benefits and ways of doing things and it (IMHO) just ends up being personal choice at the end...

Your vector images are great - and obviously benefit from that crisp vector edging at any resolution.... ... Must admit, having done cross-hatching on only two inks with a Wacom bamboo ...I miss the ability of vector to make that kind of line work easy...   Hell I may even 'borrow' some of your inks to practice colouring...

This is all mainly just to give me a hobby - no intention right now of doing it seriously... just something more enjoyable to replace wasting hours in some useless MMORPG grind....

Very cool!
Be careful not to change the hatches ...
Keep training!

Thanks... was the first one I ever did so its full of mistakes if you look closely...  I must admit, the hatching was pretty difficult to get used to... almost wished I had a ruler to put across my tablet to get the lines straight...
