Description Jack and Sally plush dolls from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.
It was so so difficult to do it, really, it took me forever to finish and if you’re thinking about doing it, just don’t, don’t do it!
For a long time I’ve been searching on-line, looking for dolls of Jack and Sally to buy for my room, but they were extremely expensive or I didn’t like them, so I decided to sew my very own dolls. It turned out to be much more demanding than I thought, HOWEVER, I’m really pleased with the result!
Hope you guys like it!
Laura.

(Another thing I wanted for my room was Silent Hill’s stuffed rabbit, you know? Robbie the rabbit! We’ll see if I’ll ever do it… should be easier…)

You made these!!!   WOW!   That is awesome!!  I would definitely pay money for these, they look so professional!!  Good job!  I am impressed.  Are you a seamstress as a profession?  You could do that, you know, make stuff and sell it on etsy www.etsy.com/?gclid=CP_sotfonL… or ebay.  I like your book on the Brontes.

Thank you Yeah, actually the idea was to sell them and make others, but they were way too difficult to make so I changed my mind, I don’t ever EVER wanna make dolls again!! (Or at least, not for a long time!)
No no, I’m not a seamstress, my mother is the expert! She taught me all I know and she helped me with the clothes of Jack&Sally, but I’m not as good as her… I’m not even close! However I’m learning and I’d like to improve You noticed the book on the Brontes! Yeah, I’m kinda obsessed with all of them, Jane Eyre was the topic of my thesis one year ago and now that I’m about to take my postgraduate degree I’m doing another thesis, this time about the whole family

Well, you should learn and get really good at it.  Once you figure out a workflow, you can make these by the dozens and sell them on Etsy.  They're beautiful.  I loved that movie.  Jack was so naïve and sweet in his own ghoulish way. I love all the Tim Burton movies.  He actually uses Claymation and creates these exquisite dolls and props.  For ParaNorman they created an entire suburb.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d-Xzm…  You can watch this in HD! It's one of my favourite youtube behind-the-scenes videos.  The movie was really fun to watch when you knew how they made it.  I have a whole new appreciation for Tim Burton.

Wow, thesis!  How cool!  Are you majoring in literature? That would be so awesome.  Do you want to write books someday?  I do.  I love the Brontes but their lives were so short-lived.  They died so young.  It's kind of depressing in that very Romantic way.  All their books were kind of depressing too even though they would pull out the semi-happy ending in the end, there was so much emotional attrition that you couldn't help but feel a bit grey and sad anyway.  I prefer Austen because of her sharp wit and brighter colours.  I don't get depressed over the character's lives.  Pride and Prejudice is still my favourite period book of all time and I love almost all the movies made of it.  I have the Keira Knightly version in Blu-ray.  I play it all the time.  I love the ending, so perfect.

Yeah yeah I definitely want to learn how to properly sew, it just takes time and practice, just like everything
I loved that movie too and loved both characters. As you may have noticed, I’m a big fan of Tim Burton’s work, even though I don’t love everything he’s been working on (Mars Attack?  ).
Yes I already knew how the movie was made and when I found out, well, that made me like him all the more! He’s such a weird man…and I mean that in a good way of course, I always mean that in a positive way
You should watch “Corpse bride” too, if you haven’t watched it already, it’s a good movie and I really loved Emily, she’s one of my favourite characters from all of Tim Burton’s works.

Yeah I’m majoring in English Literature and if everything goes right, I should get my postgraduate degree in July. What troubles me is what’s coming next, as I have no idea of what I want to do, surely I don’t want to become a teacher so… I really…really… don’t know! However I think I’ll spend a couple of years abroad but after that… I guess I’ll just see what happens and then make my choices.

No, I don’t want to become a writer, writing is really not my thing. Even though I loooooove reading and I have a good imagination I’ve never had any interest in writing. However, I’d love to illustrate books, gothic and fairy ones mainly

The Bronte family has always interested me, I was pretty much your age, bit younger actually, when I read Jane Eyre for the first time, and I’ve been interested in all of them ever since. I think the members of that family were exceptionally gifted with pure talent but in the meanwhile they were extremely unlucky, they all lived sad, short lives and died consumed by illness.
I always get kind of depress when I think of what happened to them but I also feel a lot of respect and admiration for the way the women of that family chose to live their lives, trying to find their way to lead an independent life while keeping their dignity. I like Jane Austen as well of course and I appreciate her wit a lot, but Charlotte will always be my favourite.

Hell, I’ve been writing quite a lot haven’t I? Sorry for that… how did you say, verbose uh?

When I think of what I want to be when I grow up, if I make it, I get a little confused too because I have no idea what I would want to do for the rest of my life. That's a really long time. My sister is thinking of going into pre-med. She hasn't declared a major yet. She's doing all her GE classes, what is called General Requirements for a degree. Those are all the 101 classes like Intro to Microbiology, Intro to Literature, etc. Once you get all those classes out of the way, it's straight major classes so for her it will be all the 200 or 300 classes for Organic Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Anatomy (which I heard is the hardest because you have to memomorize everything!!!), and lots of of math. She was thinking of majoring in math too because she loves it. My sister is a brainiac, a slang word in America for a really smart person. Her IQ is off the charts. I sort of live in her shadow. It's a big shadow.

I've told my sister that I could major in pre-med but go nursing and I could be her assisstant nurse. If she does become a doctor she wants to be like those Doctors Without Borders kind, where she goes to third world countries and takes care of those who can't, basically work for free. I think that's soooo cool. It makes me proud that she's my sister. I told her I would go with her but it's a hard life and my heart may not hold up. She says I should choose writing as a career because I love it so much. "Be a journalist and report on Human rights or be a conscientous novelist and write meaningful books on this tumultuous dying world of ours." She makes it sound so exciting. I think that would be cool, to write on things that could open people's eyes, inspire the humanity to be better people. There aren't enough books like that. Most books are about the occult, or stupid teen romances and vacuous stories without any redeeming value.

Traveling sounds fun though. Maybe you could be a travel journalist and work for those glossy magazines, and write your adventures in different cultures. That would be really exciting, I think.

My first run-in with the Brontes was Wuthering Heights and surprisingly it wasn't the book but the song by Kate Bush. I loved it so much I read the book. My mam had a houseful of books!!! What lots of people don't know is that the book has two parts, two generations. Most people only know the first part, the Heathcliff/Catherine story which is totally wretched and tragic, and then there's the second generation with the happier ending that redeems the first story. I like the whole book, not the first half. When I read about the Bronte sister's lives, I get horribly sad. They all died so young and lived in such austerity and illness, that you can't help but feel somewhat depressed. They were the epitome of artists suffering for their craft. Oi!

Oh, yes, I've definitely seen Corpse Bride. A fave!!! We have it on Blu-ray. I love that type of stop motion, computer graphic art. It's so organic. I saw the Mars one too but I agree it was horrid. Those aliens really scared me because they were so EEEEvil. Ak! And the way they smiled, pure devil. I loved how they died though. I have to say I laughed really hard when all their heads exploded inside their helmets from the yodeling. Pure crazy genius to have that be their Achilles heel - Yodeling??!!!! Who would have thought of that? Only Tim Burton.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being verbose. Verbosity is fun.

Nahh don’t feel like you’re living in her shadow, everybody has their good / bad qualities and you’re surely as loved and appreciated as your sister is I can tell as a 24 year old girl that, even though you’re just 14, you’re way more interesting to talk to than people my age, and probably more mature than lots of them  -.-
I don’t know how to put it, you articulate your thoughts so well and always manage to be very meaningful in what you say (I think your sister is right, you’d do very well as a writer!), so don’t ever feel like you’re living in someone else’s shadow, as you’re quite outstanding for a young girl

I head Kate Bush's song after I read the book, and I was surprised by how for once a song wasn’t about making money and getting high in hotel rooms but was inspired by a novel, by literature… of course it had to be a very old song -.-
I heard Kate Bush was only 19 when she wrote it, at that age I was like playing the pokemon game (I know, I know, shame on me) and re-reading the HP saga for the third time…
