Lace the Vampire is ™ and © of faolanshewolfgold, 2011.Okay, I wasn't satisfied with the last pose, so I redrew and rebuilt it. I'm still trying to figure out the hair, and the black ruffles on the dress upper need to be worked on. I got rid of her high heels and had her wearing her 'Hi Hi Doggie' bobbie socks...
She's dancing and showing off the dress to her close friends, I think...
(Update 6/11/11: Refined her all over, added stuffed animals to corner.)

This is what I envision happening...
"Well, how do I look?!"
Lace stepped lightly to the middle of the room in her bobbie socks, deftly stepping over her favorite stuffed bear with supernatural grace. She then spread her arms and happily twirled in place like a ballerina. The black and taffeta pink ruffled dress, along with her flowing pink hair, swirled around her like a graceful, living thing.
"Well?!!" She gushed as she stopped and looked at Seth, and his sister Sarah.
Sarah brushed her chestnut hair from her eyes and gave Lace a thumbs up and a smile.
The moderately built young man with the short, spiky blonde hair and glasses just sat mutely on the couch.
Sarah waved her hand a few times in front of his face. She looked up at Lace with a grin. "Just a hunch, girl, but I think you broke him…"
"Beautiful…!" He whispered, just loud enough for Lace's enhanced hearing to pick up.
"W-What?!" Lace whispered, her pale face glowing red.
Seth got up and walked over to Lace. He reached out and gently enfolded the pink-haired vampire's hands in his.
"Y-You're BEAUTIFUL. Stunning, even!"
"Ladykiller…" Sarah gibed out of the corner of her mouth.
"Shaddup!" He retorted.
He looked back at the delicate vampiress, who was now standing there looking at the floor with her face beet red. Her jaw was working, but no sound emerged.
Good GOD, can she get any cuter?! he thought, as his heart throbbed. He swallowed nervously. He wanted to hug her…badly. But he didn't want to scare Lace. All things considered, with what her sire did to her decades ago, It was a miracle she hadn't sworn off men completely. Seth was actually surprised she let him hold her hands now. A vampire with PTSD was not a person to take chances with…OR to take lightly.
He noticed her hands shaking slightly, but she didn't pull away.
Seth had found out that he apparently looked a great deal like Lace's sire, but with a radically different personality.
That unfortunately, explained her jumpiness around him.
He cleared his throat.
"You...You okay, Lace?!" He whispered quietly.
She took a deep breath, and nodded. "Umm…yeah…T-Thanks, Seth…very much…" She looked up.
He stared into almost glowing pink eyes with tears in the corners. Her pink hair cascaded around her face, a few tendrils falling over her face.
Seth released her right hand, reached up, and gently brushed a few of the errant strands back over Lace's pointed right ear. He saw her flinch slightly but didn't move otherwise. His gut said that she probably felt the same…but… but…
If I scared her, he thought, she could break me in half without even breathing hard. She's such a sweet girl…I just…just WISH I could help her.
Every time he got this close to her, he wanted to kiss her pink little bow lips and hug her tight…
But he could never work up the nerve.
If he were in an anime, he'd be getting a roaring nosebleed…just due to the CUTE factor ALONE.
He was standing there, locked in place and staring into those beautiful eyes, when he was jolted back to reality when he felt a hand on his shoulder, followed by a loud, exasperated sigh.
"Damn it, Seth! Either let her go, or go get a ROOM, already!" Sarah growled.

It's pretty much gone back to normal now...but with broken tree parts spread EVERYWHERE!
Surprisingly, my house KEPT the power on until 9:38 am this morning, and then was out for a few more hours, until LIPA (the local power company) got us hooked back up.
It was...fascinating...to watch last night...Such power & violence!
I think we got winds up to 65-70 mph...Amazing what damage that could do! 0_0;;; 0_0;;;
(Make what I learned about Jupiter even more amazing: It's so-called 'red-spot' is basically a 1,000+ MPH stationary hurricane BIG enough to swallow the earth like a gobstopper! 0_0;;;
We still have the howling winds now. (Probably 15 - 25 MPH)
Spent two hours with my dad & younger brother finding the driveway under it's new coat of leaves & sticks...
Dad & I will probably be attacking the bigger downed limbs tomorrow.

Faolan came up with an interesting character, so that helped.
I think the biggest problems were the pose and the dress.
I haven't done well with fashion in the past, so I struggled a bit with the dress, and was a bit unsure of the pink/black scheme, but I think it worked. The pose was a bit of a bother because the first didn't make sense and wasn't natural...
Poser 6® to the rescue! It's easier to move a 3d character around to come up with something that reads well, than have to keep erasing/redrawing...

I'm trying to visualize Lace and Seth together, perhaps leading up to the first time she relaxes enough to let him kiss her.
If ANYONE could help her get over her abuse at Miklos's hands, Seth (and Sarah) could...
I'm thinking that Seth & Sarah's mother would've allowed Lace to live with them. She'd probably be cautious, as common sense would dictate that it'd be a BAD idea to let a vampire live with you, but I think she'd be won over by Lace's shy, insecure personality.
Thier mother would probably feel the way her kids would feel, upon finding out Lace's sad backstory, "If I FIND the bastard, I'll stake him myself!!"
Needless to say, Lace is set up in what WAS the Guest Room.

The interpersonal, possibly romantic stuff comes fairly readily to mind maybe because I'm a bit of a sap when it comes to a 'Happily (For)Ever After'...and I'm kinda wishing thru them, that I could figure it out and have it happen to me someday.
I just struggle when it comes to the bad guy's scene...what he'll do...what is his personality/motivations.
I can figure out Seth's feeling because I'm putting myself in his shoes. I can KINDA do it with Lace, but any feminine nuances won't come thru, so I look at her from the stark, 'basic human feelings standpoint'.
Maybe I'm overthinking things, tho...
I'll let you know if anything comes thru...
(Wonder if Lace would have the desire to drink from Seth or Sarah? Would it be a wonderful experience for the humans, if done carefully?)

let your mind wonder on some of that...think typical master and slve stuff with Lace and her maker.
and with seth he is a vampire lol but for story sake Lace could turn him and Sarah could be a donor if needed but thankfully there are blood banks now. but back then when Lace was turned she wasnt so lucky. ordered to feed and kill but her maker/master. and with Seth and Sarah's mother lets just say Lace's maker best be happy that Lace killed him all those years ago lol.
but seriously i know you like my input and i dont mind giving it but i will like just about anything you mind comes up with lol. so have fun with it.

Sorry if I ask too much info, Faolan...I just have a hard time trying to set up a character's personality on my own when there are SO MANY variables to try to consider.
Writing a story about a character with a set personality (Like Megatron® or Starscream® from Transformers™)is a lot easier, because you just have to set up the circumstances and you pretty much KNOW how they'll react. I just figure you have Lace & the rest mapped out in your head, and I'm trying to get a bead on them so I can figure out how they'll react in a given circumstance.
Collaboration helps in that regard.
Another thought/question:
How would Lace turn Seth when the time came? Is it like 'Dance In The Vampire Bund', where the vampire bites the victim once, and two nights later, that person is now a vampire? "One bite & you're in?"
Or is it somewhat more controlled, like in 'Dracula', where it takes multiple feedings/drainings by the vampire, followed by the 'victim' taking in the blood of their 'sire' or 'mistress' to finish the Change?
The 'One bite & you're in' would be VERY effective at raising a vampiric army FAST, but would have to be controlled tightly by the vampire elders to avoid wiping out the humans in a given area. (As they would reproduce exponentially) It would also suck for our two lovebirds because if Lace wanted to...ummm...get intimate...with Seth, she'd have to keep an IRON control over her urge to nibble, or she'd lose him as he is. (This is one of the FEW things about 'DITVB' that I DON'T like. It makes it hard to believe that humans aren't a minority in a vampire-ruled world at that point.)
The Dracula version, to me, seems like more work for the vampire...but would be MORE controlled. This would make it HARDER for them to raise a vampire army, but would keep their numbers (relative to their food supply) at a sustainable level. Lace would be able to...indulge herself...with Seth occasionally, and NOT have to worry about siring him.

If Miklos was around back in the Atlantis era (possibly when the first vampires were created), there MIGHT be a few of his former servants around...with power levels rivalling HIS. A female one might be a good counterpoint if Miklos would eventually find a way back to life to torture Lace, Seth & friends...Possibly a pseudo-Aunt/Mother for Lace and her vamped relative? Perhaps they could help each other heal emotionally, since Miklos abused ALL three of them? And SHOW the humans that not ALL vampires are @$$holes?!
(I wonder if the vampires WOULD gain more powers the longer they lived...)

• Does he relax completely and go with it?
• Is he a bit weirded out and struggle against her...where Lace has to use a mild form of her glamour?
Would also be interesting if Lace had to change Sarah to save her for some reason...Now Seth & his mom are a bit weirded out living in a house with two vampires... ('My Sister, the VAMPIRE!')

hmmm well i dont want Seth to throw himself at Lace like the Twilight series. but nervous but wants to then has a oh crap moment maybe. but again i havent gotten that far either lol.

The only thing I can think of ATM, is that Seth might be the technology genius, but when it comes to human relations (much less VAMPIRE relations), he's usually a FAIL. He finds it easy to create a sun gun, but when it comes to talking to Lace, his mind goes blank when he needs it the MOST.
So he retreats into his safe little world of blueprints and soldering irons...
He thinks that she HAS to think he's an idiot and a nerd...so he's hesitating to do anything REALLY romantic. He doesn't want her to reject him. He DOES occasionally show Lace that he cares (as above), but he usually gets tongue tied after that.
She's likes him, but is afraid to approach him romantically, due to the various abuse at Miklos's hands for the better part of 60 years. She KNOWS he wouldn't hurt her, but the anti-touching fear is still there.
Sarah is getting more and MORE annoyed at their timidity...and is on the verge of setting them up on 'dates'...
"God, Seth! I have more balls than YOU at this point! Grow a spine and ask her OUT, damnit!!!!"

It's just that my imagination kicks in under certain circumstances and gives me the fragments. (My muse, however, must've gone to the same school as DPRagen's...she's just as easily distracted!
I came up with that pose and it read as 'girlish' to me...only later did I envision her showing off the dress and twirling.
When I can find time, I may see if I can create a background to ground her a bit and give her a bit more depth...
I want to see if I can do 'bishies' next...To have Seth maybe holding Lace by the shoulders and talking to her...she's looking off to the side with a tear running down her face...(Talking about one of the incidents between her and Miklos, maybe. Where her verbally ripped her down...and Seth is trying to undo the damage to her psyche...)
