Description
I'm posting somethingI'm at my mother's house at the moment and she has a camera, so I brought with me some of my smaller paintings (not too comfortable to carry them on a bus though).
This is an oil on board and it's 35X50cm.
I didn't use any photo reference for this, so that purple thing doesn't exactly look like a real octopus as you can see. It kinda looks like the thing from Alien.
And I still haven't decided if I'm going to paint some eyes on it...

This is great, your use of light and colour never ceases to amaze me. You've managed to impart such a dreamlike quality to this, I don't think it matters if the octopus looks real or not.

So that's where the Octothing came from.
What does `Navagon have to do with it though?

It does look like an octopus, Laura! And I think it works well either way with or without eyes.. There's always something very refreshing about your paintings, it's very inspiring.

I think it looks like an octopus, with or without eyes. I kind of like it the way you've done it, you've given it a more mysterious look and your own style and feel (really fits in well with your last deviations when you posted up your own sea creatures).
I especially like the details you use to create an underwater effect, using a variety of different colours rather than just blues, Turquoise and jade green, gives it a very suiting other worldly quality.

Thank you! I was worried it would be too bright for an underwater scene, but it's fantasy, so it's ok
Thanks a lot for the kind words Richard

Any time Laura.
I definitely don't think it's too bright though.

I like the colours, I have to admit I'm quite torn with the eyes, because it may take something away from the picture.

This is delightful. The colours are so pretty and you've captured to feel of undersea nicely. I particularly like all the curves and arabesques, as well as the mermaid's floating hair.
The octopus is fine without a face. If you do put one in, why not a beautiful human sort of face?

Oooooh it would be like a Prince Octopus seducing the pretty mermaid!
Thank you
