Description
I was thinking about all the fine photographers here on dA, and these scraps came to hand.---
Oversize vintage postcard (actually, "Kodachromes" postcard booklet), from the mid-1950s. Embellished with image transfers. Liberal cuts, e.g., the "rainbow over the Grand Canyon" wound up going through the photographer's head because I do believe photography is magic. Dye inks, acrylics.

My last postcard for the Spectacular Sights mail art exhibit, August 2010, at Galleri KG52 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Thanks. I liked the position of the rainbow, and working with the Kodachromes was fun.

It actually started with me thinking about how you had disappeared from dA, before I knew you were ambling over beautiful shorelines!

Something about him seems kind of "peepy" to me, but then maybe that's what photography is all about

Maybe it's his mouth? It's set in an intriguing fashion, I thought. He appears to have done a lot of looking and to be quite intense about his looking.

This is great, I love the rainbow through the head and the colors you've used here.

Thank you...you can't see it too well, but under the rainbow are Grand Canyon formations, which is why the shutterbug's shirt is reddish-gold.

The title isn't original with me--it's old Americana. Photographers also used to be called "photogs" and "clickers"!

clickers is funny .
shutterbug is poetic somehow (it might not really be, but when you are not fluent in a language, you percieve it differently i think)

The older words in the language do have a whimsy to them. I don't know what the current slang for "dance" is, but how could it possibly beat "cut a rug"?

And of course "jitterbug"!

oh that, i wonder!
the older words had images in them, you hear the words and your imagination go flying from one scene to another.

Exactly! Now we have "to google" as a verb, which is fine, but rather abstract.
