and I drew her mare Kyrie. I hope she likes it. I honestly was running out of ideas in poses so I decided to reference from a cute horse rolling on its back.The background is crap

Im glad you're mom is supportive. And no matter how embarrasing old drawings can be, they are a great proof of your improvement. Always keep them
And there's nothing wrong with using reference. There isnt really a pose that's owned. Horses naturally rear, graze, gallop, etc. Just make sure you always credit. Eventually you'll be able to draw a pose without looking at a reference. So use as many reference as you need to learn, it'll help you memorize it in your mind
