Swiftpaw and his momma GoldenflowerOh, I'm sorry, what? Swiftpaw is black and white?
Genetics says no, he's not.
He can only be black if his momma is a tortie, and dad is a black or red.
Since Goldenflower's name makes more sense if she's a golden tabby, she is.
And genetics say he needs to be gold as well.
But, he keeps the spots, because why not?

but isnt a golden cat genetically black...? Because that would make her genetically a black cat, allowing her to have a black son.Β
The drawing is still, very beautiful. Love to see goldenflower with some white spotting..

I've always seen her as a Dilute Red! Which, I guess is technically Fawn, so she would genetically be a red! And since Swiftpaw's dad was never revealed, Swift could have been Red, or Dilute Red, as tom cats ALWAYS take color from their mother!Β
If I would have made her a Dilute Tortie, Swift could be black/gray, but she just doesn't look right in my mind!
Thank you! Swifty had to get white from somewhere XD

I always thougt Patchpelt ist the father, because with (in my mind) Goldenflower being black/ or amber Swiftpaw could get the black color from his mother, and the white spotting comes from his dad. Because a tom can get the spotting from his dad too. (I think the spotting is not on the X chromosom, but not 100% sure)Β
anyway, i like the red goldenflower and swiftpaws red spots sure make him cute.Β

I always thought he was the dad too! Β
And im not quite sure how white spotting works, so I gave it to both of them just cause :/Β
O did think about making Golden a Torbie, but it just didn't click with me.
And I just love having boys look like their mommas, I think it's adorable!
Thank you!!

Yeah, boys looking like their mom are extremly cute!
I wanted to sent you the side i use for calculating the white spotting, just noticed its german tough xD
So basically, white spotting gene is "s". Its dominant, so only one parent has to cary it.Β
ss. No White spotting.
Ss white spotting.
SS are called "Vans" and they are completly white, except for their tail and two spots on their headΒ
I love red and white cats in general, they always remind me of Fallen Leaves ;(
