I have always liked Flygon and he has become a key member on my Black 2 Team. So I decided to draw their evolutionary line. I apologise that the picture is a little dark, I did not want to ruin the picture by fiddling with the sketch lines. Also they were all drawn on separate pages so there was a little cut a paste to get them together nicely Enjoy!

Trappinch: For many years it was not known that Trappinch was a part of the evolutionary line of Vibrava and Flygon because of it’s more reptilian appearance. However upon closer observation of it’s growth cycle it was found that the legs on Trappinch slowly recede as it gains more weight before entering a stage of pupation much like that of an insect. Burrowing underground they form a cocoon and metamorphasise (yes, this is a word now ) into their next stage. It is thought that Flygon lay eggs in sandy areas to protect the babies from predation, but their tough outer skin protects them from dehydration and their jaws keep them safe from most known predators. Most recent studies have suggested that this prevents Vibrava and Trappinch competing for the same food sources, however more research is still needed.

Vibrava: Once they have merged from their cocoon the wings on their backs are very delicate, they tend to stay in low areas away from wind and sand until a calm night before flying off for the first time. They travel to warmer areas near water where they feed and begin to grow though they are still unable to breed at this time. Their large wings are not perfectly adapted for long flights and they spend a lot of time hiding from predators. It was previously thought that Vibrava kept the ground trait from their previous form however their traits and lifestyles are more related to Bug pokemon than ground. There is debate on whether Trappinch itself should gain the Bug classification based on it’s growth cycle.

Flygon: As Vibrava grows it begins walking on its back legs leaving the two forelegs to grow into limbs suited for holding prey. At this time Flygon are expert hunters, using their formidable mandibles to tear prey apart. They are skilled flyers and, with the body shape, may account for the reason they gained the classification of Dragon. Once more the debate is still out as to where they fly in terms of classification. Once they are mature they begin to look for mates, males will court females by waving their wings in a specific pattern. Once a female has chosen a mate the Male use the barbs on his tails to attach themselves to a female to prevent her escaping. After he has impregnated her she will return at night to lay her eggs in the desert. Swams have been seen passing over towns but very few have seen female actually laying their eggs.

So there is my summary of Trappinch, Vibrava and Flygon. The reasons for the intect thing was that as I was drawing some basic sketches I could not help but notice how like insects Vibrava and Flygon were. After the pictures turned out so well I had to fit it in with the less than buggy Trappinch. I hope you like it
