Description The 8th floor of the Puerta Americas Hotel in Madrid, Spain. Each floor is designed by a different architect, some of them being quite phenomenal, such as Mori, Hadid and Nouvel's work. However, the most impressive and function of the floors, in my opinion was done by the interior designer, Kathryn Findlay. She likened her design to providing a space for mediation and retreat within the city, "where you feel as if you are floating on the clouds and feel the freshness of the breeze"

This image is of the central hall of the floor, with rooms to the left and right rear of the viewpoint. The couches are soft, incredibly comfortable and for some odd reason remind me of melted marshmallows. The most interesting thing about this room is the light system on the wall, it is responsive to movement and the light grid will darken and brighten to display patterns and simulacrums of the people walking through and occupying the space. It makes for an interesting sort of mirror.

Yeah, it is a bit futuristic. Or in a strange time mixup, it is reminiscent of the futuristic predictions of 50 years ago. All the curving lines and lack of right angles combined with the purity of the white colors set it apart from contemporary spaces a bit.

But thanks man, I am glad you like it.

We had to stay at the hotel in order to get past the lobby. Some of my friends who went a different day and did not have reservations got turned away at the door. It was expensive, but it was not outrageous. Only about 120 euro for the one night. And one night is really all you need to explore the hotel.

I do wish we could have been able to make it in more of the rooms themselves, but just for the floors themselves and the rest of the stuff we made our way into it was worth the trip.

I still think it looks like melting ice cream, but maybe it's a food preference thing.
Huh, something looks off with the cropping, but I can't tell what.

yeah, the crop is off a bit i think. i cant go any wider though, this is already full frame. i might try taking a bit off the left side though, to see if that will help center it a bit.

Yeah, it was the most expensive place we stayed the whole trip, coming in at 120 euro a person for a night, so pretty much a whole week in a hostel elsewhere in the city, but it was worth it in my opinion, if only for the architecture. Given that it is a hotel, they try to discourage tourism as much as possible, and if you are not staying in one of the rooms they will not let you past the lobby. As is was, we were only able to see the insides of the room we rented, but it was still worth it.

The color, in going with the cloud theme I would guess, was pretty much pure white. It was getting to be dusk when I shot this, so the exterior light was dim, plus I darkened it just a slight bit in post-processing. Check here for another one. (not from me) Although as a caveat, I think that image might be a render since in my experience the reflections did not quite work like that, but you get the point about the color.
