What do you medium and materials do you use? Bristol board? Pencils and ink? That what I have been using lately. I just started using black india ink and noticed my images have been a lot more defined and crisp and make my artwork so much better. I love using ink now.

Smooth bristol board, easy on the pencil, and yes india ink, with a brush. I prefer a brush over a pen or quill because you can change the thickness of the line while your making the mark on the paper. But whatever works best for you is what you should continue using. However I do have pens because you cant beat them for straight lines. You should probably experiment with all of them to see what you like best. But inking with anything other than india ink will probably not give you the best results in the long run as many markers will bleed after a while. You will notice I have been experimenting with ink wash which is just india dilluted in water. It's nice to use for shading and shadows. Keep experimenting and draw everyday. We're all still learning! peace!

wow. Thanks! This was pretty helpful. I have been using a little bit rough bristol board but and it works quite nicely. I haven't tried the smooth one yet for a piece. Thanks again!

Welcome! I prefer the smooth because its easier on the pencil, and it smudges a little less.
