It’s that most wonderful and festive time of the year again, when we gather together in celebration of… sharks?

Yep, Shark Week is almost here (July 27-August 2)! The Discovery Channel will be running all kinds of fun programs, including new episodes of Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. All in the name of education and conservation of one of the world’s most interesting and misunderstood predators.

I figured it would be fun to use this opportunity to give myself something more challenging to draw, something different from the usual dogs and cats. I probably haven’t drawn a shark since I was 10 years old, when I drew a bunch of horrible pictures of people getting eaten by sharks after watching Jaws.

The two sharks are my favorite species, a great white and a tiger shark. If I remember correctly, great whites will sometimes eat tiger sharks. Poor tiger sharks.

I kind of like the way the background turned out, but I can see it still kinda sucks. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin the overall picture.
