I've been reading Lovecraft's totally awesome dream cycle stories lately and it inspired me to make this picture
Did this in the workplace while co-worker looked at videos and calls happened... Oooo and while reading Burroughs' "Pirates of Venus", Gahan Wilson's "Everybody Favorite Duck" and of course Lovecraft

What was the intention of having the circle around the star? There's something about it that works with the wavy lines. Would this just be something done for style?
It doesn't of course detract from my opinion that this is a wonderful piece. I'm only curious because for some inexplicable reason it work for me and that I can't formalize the reason is annoying.

Ah yes, that's a bit of style there, like an abstracted halo or flare, much like how the wavy lines are abstracted cloud or mist At the time I was working towards bolder and simpler design, the kind that catches the eye better I'm so glad you like it, thank youuuu!
