Looks like Cliff's a better guy than he gives himself credit for.
Also, I have to day that I really dig Oscar's cool under pressure.
I have to ask though, has it occurred to either of them to ask the snake nicely to not eat them?

For what it's worth, I have a suspicion they're not in as much danger as it might look. Consider this: The guys who's truck got smashed up never even saw the snake, but surely the snake knew they were there? If the snake wanted to hurt them it obviously could, so it probably just wants to be left alone.
I'd bet it's more annoyed that they jumped in its pond, than it wants to eat them...
