Yes, we all know Clay's a precious big bean that loves to eat like the majority of us. This is Clay whenever he was tempted to get the monster out of him that never existed, and he and Kestrel hadn’t understood that bigwings were to help their sibs hatch. I found it absolutely cruel that he was thrown in the river for mistaking the rest of the Dragonets of Destiny as MudWings (on the other talon, he did nearly kill them). But let’s all keep loving this boy~

I think Kestrel wanted others to see how powerful he "truly" is so the Dragonets of Destiny seems much stronger as well.

Maybe but I think it would have been better is Kestrel say What if someone hurt them what would he do and not call him a "monster"

If only Kestrel were different, but you know how a lot of SkyWings are- I seriously wished we had a book for Kestrel and knowing more about her than killing her son for Peril. Maybe the fact that Peril could’ve been the Wings of Sky, the oldest, strongest and most feared one drove Kestrel to thinking "This cowardly lizard was supposed to be the monster!" (Or "my monster", but that would sound to Scarlet-y)
