Chrysanthe is, first and foremost, a woman of learning. Second, she is a businesswoman, and she has made a place for herself in the City as a chemist and inventor. Among her patents are such useful (but inane) concoctions as an ultra-strong glue, a series of food dyes, a recipe for quick-setting cement, and a brand of fine flavored mead.

Her real passion, however, is substantial Syballian Powers; the powders, liquids, pollen puffs, and slime produced by other Sybals as part of their own unique abilities. She is fascinated by the ephemeral nature of these substances, and works with a few willing participants-- such as Pyotr Vladislav-- to better 'sample' and learn how to work with these otherworldly materials, in the hopes of helping others understand themselves-- and maybe to bring benefit to the City at large by commercializing their use.

Chrysanthe's quadrupedal nighttime form is a product of the many converging influences in her life before the City. She stands a little over five feet tall at the shoulder, resembling effigies of the god Anubis with elements both feline and serpentine, and has a long tongue which she often uses to employ her Power. She is swift of paw but physically fragile, and is not made for conflict.

Sybal Power: The Serpent's Slurp
Chrysanthe has the peculiar ability to be able to separate the chemical compounds of anything she tastes, to an accurate degree. For instance, if she were to consume a loaf of bread, she would be able to separate all the individual ingredients in that bread, tasting flour, salt, water, milk, egg, etc. on its own, and able to accurately approximate how much of each ingredient went into that bread. It's an ability she has fair control over, but its usefulness is reliant on Chrysanthe's knowledge of the ingredients themselves. If she has never tasted something before, or never tasted something similar, she can't magically know what the thing is.

This Power, paired with her curious mind, are part of what landed her in her current profession.
Personality:
Proud, intelligent, cunning, driven, charismatic, quiet, introverted, and well-spoken, she deeply values individual freedom. Chrys is the defacto leader of a small group of loosely organized insurgents, about 20 strong, who wish to see the rule of the City turned over to its people. The Tacca Chantrieri has become something of a home base for her, and many of her discussions on the morality of rule have recently taken place at the venue.

History/Extra:
Born in the kingdom of Nobatia (Nubia) in 856, she barely remembers the land of her youth and has entirely embraced the City as her home. She believes it is an illuminated place, and has believed for a long time now that Basileus, and his Ministers, will eventually be deposed by its citizens. Her belief that such change would come about through peaceful, natural transition, however, has been tarnished by the length of the regime as well as its reaction to the protests. She blames the violence on the desires of the Syballian people, but she blames the Organizer for failing to acknowledge the discontent that sparked them.

Through the Tacca Chantrieri, she met and 'befriended' Pyotr Vladislav, whose Power is of intense interest to her, and whose impressionable mind, a convenience. They share the goal of deposing the current government and replacing it with rule by the people- though what that, exactly, looks like is muzzy. She is sometimes guilty of answering any direct question on the matter with scholastic hypothesis rather than concrete belief, and would be happy to see democracy, community rule, or even complete anarchy arise in the face of the current government. All three, she insists, would represent much-needed change, and would be the natural progression of an enlightened people away from the notion of absolute rule by gods and kings.

Twice investigated by the CAC, the Commission has so far found no actionable evidence against her.

She has no knowledge of Erina's Insurgency. In fact, while she thinks that the idea of the Irizima is a nice one, she discredits them as urban legend, a force invented by people who are disgruntled by the presence of the Airavata and need some kind of opposition in order to satisfy their simplistic need for right and wrong in the world.
