I'm sorry, Jessica Alba just doesn't look like a blue-eyed shiksa! Enough with the spooky contact lenses. This picture is a compromise between the new movie version of Sue Storm and the one in the Jack Kirby comic books that I grew up with.

From what I've read and heard, the importance of finding one's own style cannot be overstated...though I sorely doubt you need ME to repeat that. In any case, I'd say this piece is a successful return to & divergence from early influences.

For a moment your title had me scratching my head: "Wasn't Storm a PLATINUM blonde, despite her African nationality?" Quite the "Durr?" moment, even by my standards.
Alba's degree of separation from the comic version didn't bother me much (heck, I never noticed the contacts), but I see your point (especially given her non-dyed hair, as seen in the "Dark Angel" TV series). It's clear you opted to incorporate Celluloid Sue's stylized bodysuit & 'beestung' lips (again, the latter trait is something I barely notice outside of Angelina Jolie), whilst the hair & eyes are classic (and exquisite). The blue background almost fits too well...but then, vanishing is essentially Mrs. Storm's trademark.

Quite literally, I had a blue double matte and a gold frame on hand and I created a picture that would go with that color scheme. I spent my first ten years as an artist trying to be as much like Jack Kirby as possible. I then spent the next thirty trying to unlearn these tendencies. That is why I went for the current movie version.
