Description
OK, while I'm on a nostalgia trip, here's a pin-up from the back cover of 2000ad from 1989! It's a character Bisley made famous in his ABC Warriors strip. Good times.Best,
Liam.
Note: I've only just noticed that Terri is in almost EXACTLY the same pose as my cover of a year earlier! It's only taken me 19 years to spot that!!!

Terr-1! I remember a lot of the cover paintings by different artists for these 2000ad issues and Terri was always depicted as this huge muscle vixen, but in the actual comic, Simon gradually began to draw her less and less muscular up until the point that she died; she looked pretty much just like a bikini model.

You can notice a definite Biz feel to the characters. In some ways both of your styles are similar, but you can still see YOU coming through despite who made them. Well done,a nd great work from WAY back then...damn that's going to be, what, 20 years next year?

Yeah, Simon and I have a LOT of the same heros. If you put Corben, Frazetta and Sienkewicz together you get Biz.
I LOVE those guys.
You put Moebius, Gall and Bolland together, you get classic Glenn Fabry in his Slaine period.
I'm somewhere in the middle, with ALL of those influences!
And, yeah, 20 year ago... ouch!

In a way, but it also shows just how much of good taste you have, and while you work in your own style, one cannot fault you if at any point a bit of your influences come through in your work

God this takes me back to my prog buying youth. Looks just as gorgeous as it did then. ABC Warriors pretty much cemented my passing interest in 2000ad.

Heavy old school Bisley influence here! Man I miss when Biz & Kev Walker did ABC Warriors, that was some killa stuff! Nice work Liam!

Well it's was during his ABC Warrior run! He blew us all out of the water back then!
I think the face on Terri is old-school Fabry actually...
Thanks man. Looooong time ago now.
Best,
Liam.

Gotta love Hammerstein - even if he was a blue-eyed order-following soldier boy! Bisley made him so damn cool.
Very best,
Liam.

Thanks man. I spent about three days painting it, and even after all these years the original still hangs in my studio.
Best,
Liam.
