ArtTrade with TheNornOnTheGo , of her shapeshifting dragon OC. She can only hold her human form for a while, or until provoked. I drew her a bit less cheery than the references/bio given, but felt it went well with the more dramatic spotlight contrast. Actually drew two versions, but ended up scrapping the first more dynamic pose even after completing the line-art on it, because it wasn't completely right. I really think that if the lines are RIGHT, color can be minimalistic and still look beautiful (this one is mostly flats with very subtle gradients, highlights, and scatter light). It's this less = more technique that I've been trying to nail for a few years now.

Less is more is hard to do especially if you're at all used to going over everything for the 3rd layer of shading and 5th layer of highlights //guilty as charged
Your lineart is always so cleeeaaannnn and the gradients look great hnnnggnh.
Also the eyes. Very captivating. That's very appropriate for a dragon character. Good job sir.
