I think the lack of eyes is effective, because if it did have eyes then the part of the photo that your eyes would be drawn to would be its eyes, without them, the photo draws you in as a whole.

OK. Let me get this straight. This is the most beautifully captured photo of the very essence of this even more beautiful animal I've ever seen in my life. The darkness of the photo really compliments the subtle shades of grey in the cat's fur and creates a very unique feeling of mystery to the picture. You've also managed to capture the cat in a pose that says it all, and the fact that it looks almost like a silhouette adds to the beauty of the cat's delicate forms. You have shocked me.
