Description The next in my mini series of places around our solar system, is a view of Jupiter from the surface of its closest orbiting moon, Io. The surface of Io is covered in sulfur being spewed up through the many steam vents and volcanoes that cover it's surface. My goal for these shots that I'm doing throughout our solar system is for them to be as photo-real and scientifically accurate as possible.

There are many people around the world who would love to see the beauty throughout our solar system for their own eyes, or a real picture for that matter, but our governments are too busy with spending trillions of dollars on wars that solve nothing. So for now, at least for my own satisfaction, I can get an good idea of what standing on Io might actually be like.

The sulfuric landscape in the scene is from none other than planet Earth, at a sulfuric steam vented landscape in the plains of Ethiopia. Jupiter was rendered with the highest resolution texture maps I had access to, which are 8K.

Jupiter was rendered in Maya and the entire scene with all the elements were composited together in NukeX.

I hope everyone enjoys and I greatly appreciate any comments, favorites, or requests.

Great job on the landscape. i thought it was a photo-manipulation of Yellowstone or something I guess it would look much the same

It's an honor! The landscape is a photo-manipulation made from a photo taken in a sulfuric region in Ethiopia, which I thought was the best possible comparison to what we might actually see on Io. Technically the entire scene isn't CG, but it has an emphasis on Jupiter which is why I put it under the 3D section, lol.

Also, as for many, your work on here is some of my all time favorites! Your space work and subject matter is fantastic! Β

The fact I thought it was a 3D landscape just proves how... unreal the real place must look, I never knew there were such places in Ethiopia though, I imagined there being some in America and Europe and that's about it I was wondering how such a scene could be created in 3D though, especially Vue. It wouldn't be easy but I bet it would be doable
