Description
This was my favorite assignment in Painting class last semester. We were told to make a self portrait, but we couldn't use our physical characteristics to represent ourselves. I used lots of different media for this one.Sorry for the crappy quality. I'm hoping to sell this painting sometime soon so I can buy a new camera.

Hey i really love this piece and i was wondering if you could tell me a little more about your project like what you had to do and stuff, not sure i get it completely.

Hmm, the assignment was pretty open. He basically told us to make a self portrait but we could actually paint ourselves or anything that physically represents us, such as our faces or any physical characteristics. We could make it completely abstract or not, and those were about the only guidelines he gave us. Some people in the class did landscapes that were very moody depending on how they were feeling. For example, one international student painted a desolate snowy landscape because she had been very isolated. For mine, it is kind of a collage of some of my favorite things as well as things I associate myself with. I used a lot of bright colors and media as well, trying to saying something about myself. I hope this helps!

just thought i should say, i really love this painting. The colors are amazing, and i am totally jealous of the style with all of the media. compositions like this take me months to figure out in my own work. >__>

i love the colours, and everything going on to keep the eye moving. i'm a fan of self portraits not using your own image.. i had to do something like that and i enjoyed it. unfortunately it was a sculpture and it broke into thousands of pieces moments after being marked. lol whoops, my bad. i wonder if that means that i will have a similar fate.. lol 👍: 0 ⏩: 0
