Description
It could be his rejection and defeat, or it could be the first time he fell in love with Sarah. Both are painful, thrilling falls. A little melodramatic for me, but it gets the point across. (I'm lame!)I'm stuck on that long panel look. This whole thing was an excuse to draw the animal bones on the shoulders of Jareth's owl coat in the last act of Labyrinth, and you can't see much of them. I want to do another.
This one was frustrating and I don't know how I feel about it. I did it during a bad cold, so I was cranky and stuffy and inclined to half-ass it. Goddamn, I don't know what I was thinking with all the fabric. Never again, unless I get some skills.
The title kind of needs explaining; I've been really heartbroken twice in my life, and both times the only thing that made me feel better was listening to "Drowndeep: Hula" by Maxwell. It's an undulating, underwater song, appropriately embryonic, like a good Codeine fog. It put a new feeling to the word "hula".
materials: ink and Letraset illustration marker on bristol, plus a touch of the ol' PS
music: Maxwell, "Drowndeep: Hula"

It very much reminds me of the various depictions of The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian. Is that what you based this off of?
It's very beautiful, either way. Wonderful, flawless job.Elle

This image is so unbelievably made of awesome. It takes an artist with real talent to be able to convey the sense of heartbroken, lost and loneliness that this single image just radiates. Fantastic. <3

Gorgeous, dramatic. Makes you think. There is no blood from the arrows; who is to say if they are strikes of pain or chilling delight?

This is my favorite of your "Labyrinth" works. Poor Jareth...it's so strange how in the films Bowie has made that involve his character falling in love, he usually winds up alone, rejected in some way. It seems the female leads in his films, unlike us real-life women, cannot see nor appreciate all the wonder and beauty before them when it is cloaked in oddity and/or darkness...but obviously you do.

I've seen very little with him acting, actually. This, and his part as Tesla in The Prestige, actually. Strange and charming. I feel like it might be hard to be around him as a person, like his energy would do wild things. His nearness would make your atoms vibrate at your resonant frequency and you'd explode or something.

Oh, there's a wonderful world of Bowie to explore out there, full of marvelous beauty and deep emotions that run the gamut.
The idea of meeting one's end as a result of just being near him...so long as it was a simple "poof" and nothing too messy, I can't think of a better way to go!

Love his expression so much, you've portrayed him on his very best (that I've seen while referring to the movie, as I haven't seen much of him beside that, which apparently seems like a shame, and to say again here he looks gorgeous /ramble), the symbolism of this picture and composition is gold, and though those fabric folds sounds like a pain to have made, it looks absolutely great. How you colored this looks great, especially the fabric, the transition between the hues are love. shamelessly overusing the word love, but that's the word that covers how I think about your work so hope you won't mindβ‘
Also I could stare at this forever

Thank you so much. I feel like such an amateur when it comes to good lighting. I look at your art and it seems like it comes so naturally to you, where shadows fall and the play of colors. It's like a total crap shoot for me, so it's really awesome to hear when I do a good job. C:

This is beautiful and lovely sad. I also am so glad you posted the song, cause I'm in love with Maxwell's music now too. I love how it sounds almost tribal and natural in the beginning, like those nature and music cd's. And then he started singing.

....I want this as a bookmark. It's so cool. It's the sort of dramatic composure that I've been looking for in a picture. I guess that makes me selfish.Non the less, your art is amazing. I hope to see more of it in the future.

God the fabric looks lovely. It does give a feel of falling/drowning to the picture. And his face, augh, so beautifully drawn.
