Description
New body of work in paperclay. The Exploded Planet series. This was my first one. I was actually glad when glaze from another artists work dripped onto her in the kiln....that means I don't have to part with her.
I will eventually be setting up an etsy account to make this series available for sale. The photo process is a killer and is taking me forever......

Wow, this is very lovely and original. I really like your treatment of glaze on the inside, and the outer textures are beautiful.

Thank you. It was the very first one I attempted. I am just starting to feel like I might be able to part with it....

Really neat. I like how it's kinda a surprise when you see all the color inside--a nice contrast to the earthy exterior. What sort of armature did you use?

I used a very round wooden bowl from Ikea, and layered the torn pieces of clay inside it, textured side of the clay touching the inside of the wooden bowl. Then I very carefully smoothed the pieces of clay together on the inside. As I worked my way up the sides I used a very soft rib to stretch the top of the clay into the rounded shape you see.
The clay is super thin from the texturing and stretching I do to it before tearing it up and making it bowl shaped. David Gilbaugh taught me the technique - I think he has a website.....
Thank you

I like the texture of the surface and the glazed/unglazed parts makes an interesting contrast to it!

I also wanted to say that all the combinations work great, especially as a collection of pieces. Love the variety!
