Description
Burned House Series...This is an older pic of mine... I decided to submit some of my older work that I like. It is a burned house in a Texas small town. Scene: Bedroom.
My own comments: This bedroom felt full of emotion to me. Blackened. Burned. Brass Bedframe left. Mantle Mirror Smoked hazed and cracked, ghostly. Mantle charred. Door burned mostly up. Charring around the plug behind the bed. I felt charged in there. Who were the people that lived there? Did they die? Did their dreams die? Did their children get out? Their pets? Is their life ruined? I felt powerful emotions in there... And I am not the typr person that usually feels anything, even at funerals. Hope you feel something too. I really like the medium format square negatives too. I would like to work more in medium format. Again: I am not so much looking for crit, just wanted to share.
Details:
Taken with Yahsica Twin Lens Reflex film camera (120 film - 6cmx6cm medium format negatives)
100 ASA B&W Film
Printed 8x10 on VC Fiber Based Glossy paper.
80mm lens
Not Photoshopped in any way.
8x10 Print Scanned.

Really sad images. A strong video. I like NIN's new stuff. I'm usually not hip on that type of music, but with NIN I am. I like pop punk and alternative.

The whole burned house series, like many people have said...is eerie. But interesting and intriguing. It makes me wonder about the story behind it.

that's really quite frightening, something about bed frames makes me feel wierd-maybe because i see beds as a secure place where you go to hide your inner most emotions, like being left alone for the first time or crying yourself to sleep. to see a bed burnt is like someone has lost that place

I felt that way too... Although I did not have the specific words like you did!
Thanks!

Okay, i like all the new photos you submitted, but this in particular is powerful. As you say, there's definitely a story behind this photo.

Thanks Syn! It was a wonderful opportunity. I shot there with a friend. Actually it was my instructor from Italy. Paolo... She was shooting 4x5 film and I was shooting medium format and 35mm too. It was amazing.
I appreciate your comments and I am glad the emotion carried... I want people to feel something when they see my work.

All of those pictures gave me a melancholy feeling, but I think it was the bed that made this one particularly thought provoking.
No probs, it's fantastic work
