Burned House Series...This is an older pic of mine... I decided to submit some of my older work that I like. It is a burned house in a Texas small town. Scene: Bedroom.
My own comments: This bedroom felt full of emotion to me. Blackened. Burned. Brass Bedframe left. Mantle Mirror Smoked hazed and cracked, ghostly. Mantle charred. Door burned mostly up. Charring around the plug behind the bed. I felt charged in there. Who were the people that lived there? Did they die? Did their dreams die? Did their children get out? Their pets? Is their life ruined? I felt powerful emotions in there... And I am not the typr person that usually feels anything, even at funerals. Hope you feel something too. I really like the medium format square negatives too. I would like to work more in medium format. Again: I am not so much looking for crit, just wanted to share.

Taken with Yahsica Twin Lens Reflex film camera (120 film - 6cmx6cm medium format negatives)
100 ASA B&W Film
Printed 8x10 on VC Fiber Based Glossy paper.
80mm lens
Not Photoshopped in any way.
8x10 Print Scanned.

It is unlucky that I was so lucky, to find such an amazing ruin, in a partially ruined state. (vs a lot of houses burn and nothing much is left.) I say unlucky, because it spoiled me! I have never found such a partially burned place like that. And ones I have I could not go in. I was lucky my medium format negatives came out, It was a difficult place to meter and shoot. Not the safest.

I love this photo for the feeling in. I am always intrigued by abandoned places, and looking at this photo I wonder much of the same things you mention in the description. Even though the photo is black and white I can practically see the flames burning up the room and leaving it charred like it is.

By far the creepiest one. Thinking maybe because, like ElectricMayhem said, a bed is such a personal and secure place and in this, its surroundings are suddenly all disheveled, dilapidated..lost all its peaceful and comforting connotations [the bedroom]. Feels old and ghostly too. I like how the door is, the person looking at your picture can feel like they opened the knob and went in.
Think you have a good idea here, making art out of what we'd normally think of as ruins.
