I don't really have a name for them(don't know what to call them), at one point I was going to jokingly name them "Apple" due to that new comic were Shadow & Sonic are hanging around an apple orchard with a Shadow Chao after apparently having trouble most of the day that seems to be pooping up recently. I've kind of been working on Crescent at one point 2 years or more back before forgetting about them, I only worked some on the design at the time & haven't work much on it since. Crescent's design was made in Chao Island's Chao Viewer I'll likely update their design when I mess with a Chao maker mod for Sonic Adventure 2(at some point finally bought it for Steam) one day. To see how they look just click the green run box then set the slide all the way to dark, part way into the swim bar(far enough that the spikey ball is kinda slightly pink & not fully grey), fully into the run bar & fully in old or mostly into it. Also give them(I dunno what to call them might just go with a boy) a seal's tail. I dunno how much I messed with the sliders last time but the seal tail is new along with the service vest.

So at some point around the time or after Sonic had a breakdown Shadow started talking with Rouge who suggested maybe a service Chao for support. Shadow went on to talk about it with Sonic, he was a little nervous about the idea but Shadow wouldn't always reach him in time if he needed help. They started talking about types of Chao & didn't think an Omochao would be a good idea even if Sonic would be able to understand what one said. In the end Sonic made a comment on how he's found dark/run Chaos(Shadow Chao) cute leading to some smiles he hadn't had in a long time & getting a couch pillow chucked at him for laughing when Sonic guessed Shadow was flustered. Shadow has been helping a service Chao in training he chose for Sonic when he could especially with swimming as Shadow's fairly worried about Sonic falling into water, he's starting to get a little protective(Rouge is luckily helping him keep from doing something stupid) but given how he found out Sonic was at his breaking point while on the run from Eggman after being tortured again it's probably for the best his service/emotional support Chao knew how get the hedgehog to shore.

Crescent is meant to be both an emotional support Chao & a service Chao that makes sure Sonic doesn't run into stuff/fall off stuff or into water along with help guide if needed. I've tried to look up if this is possible with service dogs(if they can be trained to be emotional support but the post went to therapy dog), a page for a group in LA for support & service dogs mentions it's possible with enough steady training & a talented dog.(LINK ) The website for called ADA National Network mentions while other support/therapy dogs are not considered service dogs the page for it implies service dogs can do things to help people that need some form of support such as preform safety checks & room searches, keep disoriented individuals from danger & other stuff.(LINK ) Probably not the best help but it was interesting to read while trying & failing to get my question answered on Google. To be honest I kind of imagine Chao likely can do a bit more & could maybe do both if trained, I could be wrong so I dunno.(I'm also slowly realizing I'm forgetting what I was getting at again)

Crescent is a dark/run/run Chao with some swimming traits, while trained to be a service Chao they're also an emotional support Chao. They act a bit serious but it's because they take their job serious & want to keep Sonic safe. It might also be due to mimicking Shadow as he was there to help Crescent with some of his training.(I give up) When resting/able to stop doing his job for a bit he likes to snuggle close to Sonic or Shadow if he's close by, he doesn't seem to happy about being near Spices as the Chaos Chao confuses him.(Then again Spices is an odd Chao) Spices is also confused by Crescent as he's been the only Chao in the house until now.(He's met Choco & Cheese, they confuse him too. The funny thing is that he's only lived in Shadow's place for a little bit of time.) His name(my place holder) comes from the crescent shape on his chest that's red with a sliver on the top being dark blue.
