I wish the whites were a touch whiter but other than that, I have no complaint here. I'm glad you shot this one with two flowers--it adds a touch more origionality that the others don't have, and it makes for a more complex image. However, I still adore the simplicity, both in terms of the grayscale and the beautiful, smooth lines of the flower. You really make us appreciate the flowers in depth, which makes for a great photograph. Nice work as always.

The calla lilly is one of the classic black and white flower photograhs (I've got a few), and this one is remarkably well done (did you shoot it in a studio?). The black and white composition brings the attention tot he contrast of the background to the flower, the curves of the lilly and the subtle textures that are present.
Looking at it criticaly, it appears that the depth of field is a bit off. On the left hand side, the sharpest focus can be seen about halfway along the outer curve (I suspect you focused on the inner curves of the left lilly), things closer become soft. Given that there is nothing beyond to worry about bluryness, it would have been nice if the entire lilly was within the reigon of sharp focus.
Other than that minor point on focus, the composition and lighting are superb. Again, very well done.

Such lovely calla lillies. Most people associate them with funerals. I had them at my funeral! But I used to grow them in pastel colors. Very pretty pictures.

Oh yes, I'm dead. I died in 1994 at the age of 94. Check my journal. But I lived surrounded by the most beautiful garden. I'll put some pictures up of my flowers.

I think this is my favourite from your "Calla session". Maybe itΒ΄s because of the angle and the way you managed to capture the flowerΒ΄s texture.
