Description
Nitara chopped up the vegetables, slipping them into the pan before turning her attention to the steak. She poked it gently with a fork, listening to it sizzle. In the background, the sounds of a shower reached her ears, and the bat smiled. She had just completed an intense training session with her husband, Hex, and now it was time to eat. Satisfied that the steak was ready, Nitara transferred the meat to a tray, and placed it in the oven to keep it warm. She winced slightly as she turned back to check on the vegetables. A few sore spots from the training were beginning to make their presence known.
"I didn't hit you that hard, did I?"
Nitara jumped at the sound of the voice. Hex was behind her, having finished his shower. Nitara chuckled.
"You don't hit that hard," she teased.
Hex embraced his wife and kissed her on the neck.
"I'll try harder next time then," he replied, peering over her shoulder at the food. "I can keep an eye on this now. You go wash up."
Nitara slid from her husband's arms and nodded.
"I won't be long," she told him. "Give the veg another few minutes, then start serving. I'll be out by then."
Nitara left the kitchen, leaving Hex in charge of the food as she headed to the bathroom. A good hot shower should ease the aches and pains she was feeling. And a hearty meal with her loving husband was just the way to wind down for a relaxing evening. Now if she could only convince Hex to join her in watching a good movie afterwards...
