I read up on the Nuva Cube's abilities as a power magnifier for operating Protodermis Cages and got the inspiration to draw Tahu. I can imagine discharged Energized Protodermis would harden along magnetic mounts to form the hard silver armor. Really racked my head to draw the arms and legs and especially the pool he's standing in, but I'm genuinely proud of the results.Never forget he has the Mask of Shielding, which I decided to color coordinate with his eyes lol. I wonder if the golden Kanohi being immersed in the EP with the Toa all together is why the Kanohi Nuva gained a power sharing ability, what with all the masks swapping around and everything. It was almost like a blender in there.

This is so epic, I just teared up a little. It's the details that really make this picture shine. I've already spent five minutes staring at it and am only becoming more and more awed at the little gears and pistons and beveling on the armor. *o* And bringing it all together is the beautifully planned background; from the energized protodermis pool to the Hau shield to the Nuva symbol, it serves as the perfect backdrop for Tahu Nuva. You've truly outdone yourself this time!

It was so weird that most of the Nuva masks closed up a lot of the vents and holes in the original masks, but still had definite design references to those areas

I like the color of his shield. Reminds me of the circle in the background as Leopold started conducting the orchestra in Disney's Fantasia. All the better that it's the color of Toa Tahu's shield!

I'm pretty sure you got it right with Magma Swords, dw; and thank you, I design a lot of the Toa weapons on the principle that they're conductors of their energy and ought to be shaped accordingly

While Kopaka was my first toa mata (twice over because different adults got me him lmao), Tahu Nuva was my first of the Nuva and as much as their design is different I still appreciate what is different and what is the same, so I applied some of the details from my portrait of Tahu Mata in late 2014 in this work

It's possible they lost their elemental energy because the protectors spell brought them too far from their nuva cube, so they would need the masks of the elements to replenish that ability if this were the case
