I hear the darkness whisper,
"Boy without wit,
Boy without charm,
What do you do that does not bring you harm?"

I have no answer.

I hear the darkness saying,
“Boy with but grief,
Boy with but strife,
What have you in your shallow, shallow life?”

I have no answer.

I hear the darkness screaming,
“Boy without hope,
Boy without love,
What evil, heinous act are you above?”

I have an answer.
It is not my own.

I hear His voice declare,
“Be gone you tempters!
Be gone now his foes!”
And thus my god’s peace and love do I know.
