Description
Who's next?I'm not sure how it all started... I think the words "I hate peanut butter." were involved.
Anyway, I was playing around with Povray/Megapov's ability to render 1000's of objects in a scene.
One can click on download to see a higher rez version. I'm not sure what happened to the thumbnail. Looks like the aspect ratio broke DA.....

Cool, the insignia on the skulls reminds me a little of captain harlock.

Looks like she's had a hard day of playing Whack-a-Skull! LOLOLOLOL VERY cool!
When you say thousands of things--do you mean props with no bones, or FIGURES as well? inquiring minds want to know!

Povray is really efficient in how it stores mesh data. Things are object oriented. For example: If I have a "skull" object defined, it can be added to a scene file an almost infinite number of times. Each reference can be translated, rotated, scaled, etc.... Every reference will refer back to the one master copy in memory before applying the modifications. Even materials can be overwritten within each reference. This doesn't work in Poser as Poser treats each reference as a seperate object, hence, the memory usage goes through the roof.
Povray doesn't support rigging, so figures as poser defines them are not supported. You have to export the figure to povray before it can be used. It becomes a "riggid" structure then.

Just for the record, Poser 7 *does* support creating instance copies of any given model, to include all of the clothing and props attached. Each of the instances will point to the original copy for memory management, but they still can be posed and processed individually. To do so, all you need to do is to select the base figure and choose "duplicate figure" from the main menu to create an instance of the figure with all the clothes, morphs and props included. Poser 7 will only allocate memory for the original figure, not the instanced copies. ^^

I know you can do this, but it falls short in my opinion. Often, I just want to duplicate the props only..... I have not found a way to do this. It just seems like they have half a feature implemented right now.

Props are usually used by figures, and they are also duplicated if they are parented to the figures. ^^
But yes, Poser 7 does not allow duplicating props alone - unless you convert them into figures.

Ohhhhhhhhh! Very interesting stuff! Sort of like the Vue ecosystem, except simpler. That's pretty cool! Thanks for the explanation. I'm always looking for better (easier, faster, more explosions, bigger boobs, higher ratings, more lols, etc) ways of doing things.

I hate peanut butter too, but not that much. Something about the red shoulder thingies and shin guards, even the mallet, make this look more hand drawn. You always have such nice composition too.

I like the flow of the cloak but I feel like she should be posed to show she's moving with it instead othe more static stance.
Nicely done though.

Her face looks a little 'what'? like she's disoriented.
Of course, in a field of skulls I probably would be too.
Great work though, nice render!
