Most of this stuff just lives in my head. I am fond of the Wings3D program. It allows me to spin objects around and get a good overall feel as to what they are going to look like.

Very cool. The doll lines/turtleshell outfit is a little strange, I can't tell what it's supposed to be ...

Hey, those shorts remind me of Faye Valentine's from Cowboy Bebop. Did you model those yourself, or did you get them somewhere?

The shorts are from Evil Innocence. The outfit is a freebie called cosplay, but it looks a whole lot like Faye's outfit. I only modeled the headset, gun, background, and part of the skin texture.

I am still trying to figure out the best way of using it. If you thought my lighting system dulled highlights/speculars, you should see what radiosity does to them! (Uhg!) Not to mention it really, really, slows down a render.

I do not like radiosity. I really shouldn't say that because I haven't played with it enough. But, yeah it's slow, and a lot of pics posted on POV newsgroup look, in my opinion, like sh*t because they used radiosity. I'll take area lights over radiosity any day. HDRI is really cool too. You can use it with radiosity (no lights). But, I use it with lights, no radiosity.

I am quickly coming to the same conclusion that you are, but radiosity creates ambient occlusion like effects. I'm thinking of doing two renders. One with all materials set to white using radiosity. The second being normal and using area lights. I would "multiply" the resulting images to get the radiosity effects without dulling the speculars and normals.

That sounds brilliant! I hope it works well.
There are some SSS macros for POV-ray out there. I have not tried them, but some pics posted using it looked pretty good. [link]

To bad he didn't post the script in that thread. (or did I miss it?) I have been trying to figure out how to fake SSS for some time now...

That's pretty swank. I especially like the skin texture. Is that a modified version of your Alita texture?

Yes it is! I wondered if anyone would notice that.

OMG that is sooo cool how did you add that skin texture to her, you HAVE to teach me awesome work sweetie

Lokai2000 In reply to Digital-Kisses [2008-10-17 11:38:46 +0000 UTC]
It wasn't to hard. I took the Alita texture I had before and just blended it in with the characters base texture. You can come up with some interesting things by mixing different skin textures together.

Very cool. Love the "cyber" feel from the body texture you have used here. And the eyes really cap this off.
Great work.

the markings on her kinda remind me of a series a few years back. What it was called I can't remember -oh! It was called Seaquest or something like that. Anycase, the markings remind me of race of people within the series.
