Description
I groan as my alarm goes off early the next morning. I went to bed extremely late last night. I had been working really late all week. It's saturday morning, but I'm so close to a break through. Poor (y/n)...I've felt so neglectful.Suddenly, I'm aware of this strange weight over my midsection. When I look down, squinting still from sleep, she's there curled up against my side, head laying on my stomach. Her arms are wrapped around me tightly. I chuckle lightly to myself. Even in sleep she doesn't want me to go. I sigh, briefly thinking of waking her. She's such a heavy sleeper though and I feel bad because she waits up for me at night. She's just as exhausted as I am.
I reach down and run my hands through her hair, enjoying the softness of it. I asked her once what she did to get it that way and she said a secret scientific ingredient. I think she was just trying to turn me on at the time. I smile fondly at the memory. I lean my head back against the pillow and close my eyes, starting to drift off again. But the reprieve is brief because soon my second alarm goes off. As soon as I hear the noise (y/n)'s arms tighten around me again. That's when I realize she's actually been awake. I laugh, shaking my head.
"Honey," I say softly, "I have to work." She doesn't say or do anything, but I won't give up. "I know you're awake."
Then she sighs heavily, her breath tickling me. "Hmm hm hpmh," is all I hear.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch that," I tease.
She shifts her head. "I don't want you to go," she repeats, still muffled.
I sigh again. "So you're going to stay like that all morning?"
She nods. She's so stubborn I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose this battle. It doesn't help that I'm already tired and her weight rests so perfectly against me.
"Alright," I say, pulling the blanket up around her shoulders. "You win this time."
Finally, she looks up at me, grinning. She doesn't say anything, but she doesn't have to. I can see it in her eyes that I made her incredibly happy. That's the way it is with (y/n). All the work I put into something for weeks doesn't matter if I make her smile.
She snuggles back against me and soon she is asleep. I slip my hand back into her hair and close my eyes again, feeling completely at ease.
That's when my third alarm goes off.
