Description
I use a slightly different technique nowadays - I made that in to a tutorial too, right here : fav.me/ddfyvmv
--------------------------------
thing I've been doing a lot lately with my art, its very simple but in my opinion very effective
Thought I would share it !
I used SAI2 for this, but I think it's also possible for other art programs, as long as overlay is a layer mode
Β
note works better with thinner line art - if you have any tranparent spots after this , create a layer underneath everything and colour it in ~

Quick update, I found it worked very nicely on one of my images though I used "Grain Merge" rather than "Overlay" as Overlay appeared to make the lines too light for this particular image - though as you say it's all about experimenting to see what works for different images.Β Fantastic piece of advice for final editing of cartoon type pictures.

I was wondering the purpose and assumed it was to make it softer so seems I was correct

Is that copied line art supposed to be on top of or under the new colored line art? The image says untop.

I've yet to try this method, but whenever I color lineart my copied/altered lineart layer always goes on top of the black lineart layer, of course with clipping on to make sure it only affects the lineart it's on top of! :0 Hope this helps

... this one? or...
this one?
unless you can see something in the comment I can't aha x'D
Anyways, this small text can be done in your comment with <.small> and ended with <./small>
just make sure to get rid of the period! You don't need to do <./small> if your whole comment will be done in the small text. Same thing goes for this , but you put sub in instead of small! <3

This is worth trying, I usually don't mind hard lines, but I have wondered how to make them a little more subtle.

Oh man, this is so helpful! I always color my lines by hand when I want to have them match the color layer. This looks so much more efficient.
