Description
Initially spent about a week on this particular illustration and was unhappy and frustrated with the way it was turning out, so I've just left it sitting on my hard drive for the last 12 months, where it has mocked me ever since. Finally cracked, fixed the stuff that wasn't working and finished it off. Put lots of detail into it, much of it completely lost at this size, but it was great to get this bug bear off my back!Pencil sketch on paper, painted in photoshop.

Now those are some chaps! Niiiiiice!
Your technical skill never ceases to amaze me, from the texture on the clothing to the rendering of the skin and facial features.
Do you find photo reference to work from, or do you simply go from your brain and figure it out as you go?
This one reminds me of the movie "Toy Story", except yours is better cuz it's really hand illustrated!

Cheers!
This particular piece began, like most of my stuff, as a quick and silly cartoon sketch out of my head. I then redrew it as a tight, detailed and more realistic sketch - a lot of details are just made up, but some of the wrinkles are based loosely on a friends jeans I photographed and I referenced a belt, some gardening gloves and the roller skates all from stuff I have at home in a costume wardrobe - I have a headless maniquin in my studio which I sometimes use to study cloth folds on too, but I didnt use it for this piece. The trick for me with the chaps, was I wanted to make the two different coloured bits feel like they were made from different matterials - the olive being lighter and thinner - so I gave the those bits more wrinkles and folds, tighter and closer together.
Anyway, I'm just blathering now, but I hope I answered your question!

Fantastic style, exquisitely balanced composition, and rendering that makes my jaw drop! This is like being handed the perfect ice cream cone with that soft, sweet, shocking cold rushing straight to the core. It gives me chills. Your works are simply gorgeous and I love these concepts. They have all the class of unforgettable cheesecake masterpieces and execution that registers to my eye as unique achievement. I tried matching this against the best of the best of everyone that I know and it stands up as being every bit in their league. I can only say thank you for showing your work because this exposure to it has been a true pleasure and I'm sure will be a great inspiration for me from now on!
