Description

Adelaide had a rough upbringing with her mother raising her on her own. Her mother was a much too young, violent, drug abusing prostitute who considered her daughter more of a drag more than anything. She was told to stay out of the way most of the time, and learned to do so on her own volition whenever her mother was high, drunk or with a client, or all three at the same time.

In school she was often teased and harassed because of her mother, and ran with all the wrong crowds in order to fit in.

While she has a father on her birth certificate, she never met him. At least not before she one day returned home from school to find that her mother had overdosed, and was already dead by the time she was found. The tragedy scarred her deeply, but pretended to be handling the situation well, so as soon as her supposed father was found she moved in with him.

From the time he had hooked up with her mother, her father had settled down and formed a family of his own. They were a nice little family living in a nice house on the countryside, and Addy stood out like a sore thumb.

She had been kept as a secret, so her father’s new wife wasn’t all too thrilled to hear that he had another child with some junkie hooker, despite that she had been born long before they were married. And as her father saw her as a part of his life that he long since had tried to bury and forget, neither he was too happy to hear that his illegitimate child was moving in with them. But they did what was right, and welcomed her into her family and tried to pretend that they were happy, and even told their children to call Adelaide their big sister.

But she never really felt included, nor wanted, and would much rather prefer being on her own than to force herself into a family that obviously was much happier than with her in it.

She discovered the woods around their home, and would spend practically all her free time in it, and soon decided that she should learn all she could from books and movies how to survive on her own in the wilderness.

A few later, figuring it would be better for everyone, she decided to take all the money she could get her hands on, pack the most essential of her belongings, and leave.

For the first couple of months her face was planted on missing posters all around the state, yet she avoided discovery until she was declared dead and the search was blown off, and she began her life as a roaming soul, never settling down anywhere for long. She worked occasional small jobs here and there for money, prostituting herself only in dire emergencies and went out of her way to avoid drugs and alcohol, her mother’s fate still fresh in her mind and haunting her at nights.

She loved her new, free life, never feeling trapped or unwanted. Even if she felt lonely at times, she just knew that she’d never go back to her old life again.

And after a couple of years, the lonely effect of her life was rectified when she met a truck driver named Rocky. Just like her he didn’t seem to have a place to settle down, and seemed to practically live in his truck as he carried out his long, countrywide hauls.

The two connected immediately, and it didn’t take long for her to trust him and fall in love, and the two has been inseparable since then.
