BIG EDIT: I GOT IN!!!!!! so i'll probably be doing a lot more voleros related works from now on

anyway, IT IS VEERRRYYY LOOONNNGGG, SO BE WARNED!!! here goes...

Species: Dragon - Longwing species (will also be explained)

Job: Unemployed - Thief

Talents:
Reflexes - Her race (Long wing dragons) have very large wings compared to other dragons (as the name suggests) Rayn, even though she is only 14 has the same size of wings (if not larger) than any adult dragon of another species - this obviously creates problems with moving through small spaces etc. When she was young, Rayn was very clumsy, always knocking things over with her wings and tail. As she grew older, and was forced to fend for herself, she practiced manoeuvring through spaces etc to lessen her clumsiness - as a result, over the years, she has become very well coordinated with quick reflexes - so she can catch things when she knocks them over and she is now aware of her surroundings. She also developed this skill through her "work" - As she is a thief it has become necessary for her to be able to think and act quickly, so having good reflexes is almost necessary for her survival.
Aim/Vision - Rayn likes to practice Archery as she hopes to one day become a warrior and work for the country leaders. she has developed a skill in aim through this practice. Also due to a skill of good vision common in her race (as long wings usually fly at great heights, so they need to be able to see far away) along with her practice in archery, and her awareness from her practice to stop her being clumsy - her vision and aim have greatly heightened, and Rayn can now shoot targets, see objects etc even when she is a considerable distance away.
Quick Learner - Rayn is very determined and independent - she also hates relying on other people and likes to do things herself. She has grown up without parents or anyone else to take care of her and has forced herself to learn a few basic skills to survive (cooking a little to an reasonable standard (as in, edible), navigating areas and basic medicine application (bandages etc.). As she is determined and completely focused on whatever she is learning, she picks up skills reasonably quickly, though only to an average level - she never masters them. Eg she can play the panpipes, she learnt through copying another person playing (from ear), however she can't read sheet music and can only play one or two songs (though she plays these songs quite well due to repeated practice).

Personality: Rayn is very cold towards other people, She prefers to be alone rather than with others, mostly just because she has to live like this because she's a thief. she also prefers to get things done herself rather than relying on others for help, and avoids contact with others if she can. Despite her cold exterior though, she's actually very sweet and lively. she only shows this side to people she trusts though.

She's also vulnerable: even though her outside appearance makes her seem tough and heartless, she very often feels lonely, as she's barely ever had real parents and has never had any real friends. She's also very quiet and shy, and barely talks to others (except when she shows her true personality - the sweet side) and she only smiles in the presence of people she knows well and trusts.

She likes the colour blue, and also adores shiny objects and collecting things (like a child does) She is quick-thinking and cunning (for when she steals), though she often misunderstands normal aspects of life and gets confused - she has not learnt the skills children get naturally from watching their parents.

History: Rayn was born to a Pegasus mother and a longwing dragon father. Her mother was originally from Alora and was named Elora by her parents in respect for the country. She was an artisan - travelling and playing the flute around Voleros. She had blond hair and blue eyes, and also had very petite appearance (small and thin) so she looked younger than she was. These aspects she passed down to Rayn who only took the species, some skills, and some personality traits from her father. Rayn also shares a startling resemblance to her mother - to the point that their faces look almost completely identical.

Her Father was a longwing dragon from a noble family in Elavernis, named Marz. He was a high-ranking soldier in the army, specializing in long range attacks and assassination - putting his perfect aim and quick reflexes to good use. He had Black hair and red eyes, and was very tall (over 6 ft, though that is normal for his race)

Elora and Marz met when they were 15 and were completely in love for years, though Marz was not allowed to marry her when he was 18 as his parents dissaproved of her. Later, Rayn was born due to an affair between Elora and Marz, as at that point Marz had been forced to marry a dragon from another noble family.

Rayn has no knowledge of her father, as her mother fled from Marz's family when her affair with Marz was discovered, later giving birth to Rayn and deciding to return to Alora when Rayn was 2. however while travelling through Elavernis, Elora and Rayn were attacked by bandits, and had to flee. Elora, considering her daughter's safety, ran into a nearby bar (ow! ko) and asked the friendly manager to look after Rayn while she went to try and recover the stolen items. She never returned, and Rayn was left an orphan.

Rayn was "raised" by the manager of the Pub (a friendly, and motherly middle aged woman) until she was around 8 years old, when she decided to leave to find her parents, despite the manager's protests (Rayn felt as though she didn't belong). She didn't remember much about her mother at all (not even her name, which is why Rayn has no surname) and wished to find out who her father was.
She decided to travel to gather information about her father and the bandits who attacked them before, though as she was so young, had to steal to survive.

Now aged 14, she has still never found the bandits who attacked her and her mother. However, she has learned that her father is a soldier in the army and has decided to meet him, hoping to possibly, finally, have a family and a correct surname. Though she doesn't know if her father will accept her, or if he even knows she exists.

Additional Info:
The Longwing race - The Longwing dragons are widely known for their Large wingspans and their extraordinary vision, Though they are also known for being clumsy and slow. Rayn and her father are both a rare type of Longwing dragon, instead of being brawny, they are a lot more "streamlined" in form - their wings are thinner and lighter, and they are usually thinner and taller rather than smaller and bulkier.

This particular type also has a strange genetic trait - The colour of the wings are determined by the colour of the eyes as well as the hair. The colour of the eyes become the colour of the wings, and the lightness/darkness of the hair detemines the lightness/darkness of the wings - Eg. black hair, red eyes like Marz = Black or very dark red wings, Blond hair, blue eyes like Rayn = Light blue wings. As most of this type of longwings have dark hair (often black) they mostly have dark wings, Rayn's colour is rare and is only obtained by different species of parents.

They instinctly prefer open spaces (due to their wing size) and like flying high with no obstacles, even though they are skilled at flying and could avoid obstacles easily due to strong wings.

Items
Bag: Rayn wears this around her waist - using the strap like a belt and wearing the bag itself behind her (so she can fly with it easily). It carries all of her supplies - blanket for when it gets cold, spare clothes, money, food, medicine etc. and also carries her Panpipes

Quiver: holds arrows for her bow, it straps onto her bag and has a cover that prevents arrows from falling out when she flies.

Scarf: Rayn wears this around her neck - rarely takes it off. When she steals she uses it to cover her face so that otherwise, when she buys items etc she appears like a normal citizen and her thieving remains a secret.

Necklace: given to her by her mother (though it was originally given to Elora by Marz) and is made of a blue emerald. Rayn never takes it off (it is usually hidden under her scarf)

Panpipes: Rayn bought these at a market in Elavernis - she picked them up on a whim, she thought they might calm her down as she was very irritated that day, she later realised that she didn't know any songs to play on them. At one point during travelling, she found someone else who played the panpipes and copied the songs she liked from them. She also made up a song of her own, and she plays this to calm her down, take her mind of things, or entertain her pet.

Bow: Belonged to her mother, given to Elora by Marz - Elora used it for self defense when she was travelling, she also practiced archery as a hobbie thanks to Marz. Rayn uses it if necessary when stealing, and also for her hobby or archery.

Kit - Pet: Kit is Rayn's pet Ailura (or Gem cat) and her one real friend so far. more info here:[link]

Magic - Rayn does have magic though prefers to not use it unless absolutely necessary. She can alter the size of her wings (as most Longwings can) though keeps them large as she knows the effect using magic has on her life. She only changes them if it means life or death to her (eg if she ever gets captured and tied up and her life is in danger, she will shrink her wings to escape)

Extra general info: though you wouldn't expect her to be a good thief, (since she has large wings, stands out too much and can't hide herself well) she is actually a very effective thief due to her technique.

Rayn usually targets travelling bandits (never targets the innocent due to what happened to her mother) and she often steals from them while they are out on an open road, preferably with a tall structure nearby. Rayn hides up as high as she can, then jumps and plummets to the ground, gaining speed, and smashes into the bandits with great force - quickly stealing the items/money she desires without giving the bandits time to react.
She prefers to do this on very sunny days at midday - when she often makes a noise etc to attract the attention of the bandits causing them to look up and be partially blinded by the sun, making it easier for her to steal from them as they take longer to react.

When she travels, Rayn picks one spot to be a "hideout" for a while, where she stores all of her supplies and possessions etc so she doesn't have to carry them all when she flies. She usually picks a cave, or a clearing in a forest etc - somewhere isolated. She doesn't use a tent - just the blanket she has in her bag and her Wings for shelter if it rains - she covers her belongings and sleeps sitting up.
