Description
The sphinx first originated from Egyptian tales, and usually it is depicted as a hybrid between a lion, a woman and some kind of bird. Respectively, from these animals it earns the body shape, the face and the wings.I wanted to give this sphinx a feminine appearance, in fact her torso is a mixture between a human-shaped body and lion-like built. The rest of the body is really slim, because I wanted to give it a serpent-like suppleness.
The wings look purposely more like the ones of an angel than the ones of a hawk, because I also wanted to make her look gracious.
Focusing on her face: I wanted to make her nose look feline.
I added elaborated jewelry all over her body to add regality (as you can see on her head, on her torso, on her wings, at the end of her tail).
This is a free interpretation that reflects my aesthetic preferences, more than real illustrations and tales.
