my pet beetle helpin out with some photography.this pic has been in my head for a while and buggin the hell outta me...if ya know what i mean.
2 strobes..one w/soft light reflector, one w/umbrella for fill.

The beauty and the beast.... new version. But the beauty has the colors of the beast, and the wide-angle (?) or the way you photographed her face gves deformations that makes the beauty less human. The make up is fantastic, and I really love this one

She was asking me if I had seen it or not and I had remembered glancing over it in your gallery but never really LOOKED at it. It is amazing! I think that's crazy cool that you have a pet beetle! And how brave you are for putting it on your face! Great concept!

Automatically it is the colors that jump up and grab me by my t-shirt. I love how the vibrant & rich greens and bold yellow found on the beetle relate directly to color hues of the make-up around your eyes. Sometimes the expression in the eyes emotes the idea in the viewer that something is "bugging" the subject. In other glances it doesn't - don't know why it seems to change upon different viewings.
BTW: Question:
I am curious as to how difficult it was for you to get your beetle to "sit still" to get this shot (how many takes before this was the perfect one)? The reason behind by curiosity is because I work alot with live insects in my conceptual shots so it takes agreat many shots, vast amounts of patience and sometimes an hour or two before the shot that I am looking for is captured. So I wonder if you encounter(ed) the same difficulties as I do when working with live insects as models (they sure as heck don't listen to instructions - ok. just tilt your body a little to the left
