Description
I think the essence of portraiture is to try and capture the soul of a person, maybe a quality which others do not notice...I was shooting some commercial shots for is my assistant, Greg and i like to warm up by taking some expressive pieces to relax the model. This is the result of one of these preliminary sessions.

although i'd preferred it if the expression of his face was more angered and proud than so quiet and serene.

this is not a stock photo and you did not ask permission to use it. i don't think the model would be too happy about use on his picture without compensation, so i am going to have to ask you to remove this deviation.

even before i saw the title I said "strength" true art in itself- if i can do that-instafave when i saw it.

This photo really helps me, besides just be visually appealing. I've had allot of health problems lately, that always lead to mental problems in the long run, unless you remain strong..... thanks for sharing.

the lighting is perfect in this one. so are the tones.
but I think one minor flaw is that his right eye is completely dark. this makes the viewer wonder.

That is definitely a picture of strength. He seems so poised and so in control of himself... it's almost envious. And I have to say his fists look like they could be made of iron - well to me at least.

The toning and the grai certainly reflect the physical male quality of this piece. The main light set up is very nice giving a good gradation across his face and chest. The secondary light gives us some very cool rim lighting on his side, detail/shape on his cheek, and nice seperation from the background.
I totally dig this guys pose. It is a self contained meditative/reflective stance with his arms crossed up in redayness for action. This is so totally cool.
