Description
Following on from this when they arrived back at Havillands, John handed Avril over to Jenny and took Suki to the large barn to wash her down and make sure she was unhurt. Jenny let Avril use the phone to tell her people that she was ok and being looked after. She arranged for her father to come and collect her and Suki with the horse box and a change of clothes! In the mean time, Jenny introduced Avril to the eccentric victorian plumbing in the downstairs bathroom. Once showered and clean, Avril wrapped herself in some borrowed clothing, towels and Jenny's fluffy dressing gown and went in search of Suki.
She found her in the big barn looking nice and clean, eating a bran mash out of a plastic bucket while John felt her legs to make sure she hadn't damaged herself. Avril plonked herself down on an upturned bucket and drank the hot tea that John offered her. Avril poured out her story to John about how Suki had shied and bolted and her long search to find her missing mare.
Suki was the horse of Avril's dreams, a beautiful, young, black thoroughbred rescued from the track, Avril was determined to turn her into a thoroughly understood riding horse by application of tonnes of love, much pampering and every and any available piece of kit she could lay her hands on at the saddler's. Suki had special gel lined, neoprene saddle cloths with magnets sewn into them, a stable set out with the best Feng Shui available and a headcollar with rose quartz decoration to install a feeling of calm.
John bit his lip.
He knew that the mare needed time, attention and careful training by somebody experienced. He was too polite to say anything however.
Avril prattled on about her hopes for Suki, the people she had bought her from at the track and how much a course of 'Growth Mindset For Horses" had cost*
Suki, demolished the bran mash and looked a lot happier than when John had first seen her. She had relaxed a bit now and her ears weren't flicking from side to side as much. She was a nice mare, if rather small, and would make a great riding horse for someone IF and only if she was sympathetically trained.
Bunny crept closer to get a good look at Avril.

* Growth Mindset For Horses is something I made up, if it really exists then that is a coincidence and I bet it is expensive!

There isn't, probably someone saw Avril coming and realised she would fall for anything.

growth mindset for horses...love it...bet it does exist somewhere (possibly under a different name)! Loving this story though!
John and Scott should meet up and swap stories on super horses they've found with clueless owners (and I should draw Dommy again...)

No, probably not, best to keep her and George occupied with something else or there may be trouble.

I wonder if Suki might just get the proper training soon X3 Not that crystal quartz's are bad, but it take a little more than crystals, gadgets and pampering to train a horse I've really enjoyed this story so far, and am eager to see what will come next! You are great at telling stories :>

Thank you, I love to tell stories but it is taking me ages and ages to get the art done for this story.

Looks like she's stumbled in just the right direction to get some good help and advice, maybe Havillands could start offering a breaking and retraining service! Love the details as always, especially the frog mug this time

The Kermit Mug is John's, he's had it since pretty much the start of the comics and drawings.

Definitely have a very strange idea of how to 'train' a horse that lass

Yes, I'm not sure which story books she has been reading but some non fiction might be a better choice.

Thankfully Havillands have enough sense to 'hopefully' make up for it...and I'm even counting George there

I'm sure George will air his opinion on Feng Sui and crystals!

And for once he'll probably just say, out loud, what everyone thinks...albeit rudely.
