Description Competition entry for 's Oak Hollow Summer Fair [link]
For Havillands Stables -but riding in his own colours George Henby and Havillands Rabble Rouser.
Day four: Robinsons Equestrian Oak Hollow Horse Trials CCI* Show Jumping Phase
George and Rab approaching the 'sunny days' jump on the far side of the arena. Rab is keen and raring to get going, George is standing in his stirrups looking desperately for the next jump, perhaps he should have spent he previous evening studying the course and learning the route instead of ...whatever it was he found to pass the time the previous evening! (I'm not even going to ask!) The others tried finding him last night but he had vanished off somewhere. They gave up in disgust in the end.
Bunny looks unimpressed with George's performance, but then Bunny doesn't like him anyway! (Probably because George threatened to pick him off with an air gun on one occasion!)
Drawn in Manga studio
Coloured in Photoshop
Sponsors' logos from a list on the main OHSF page (see above for link)

I had another go at this pose, in a previous competition I tried drawing a horse from this angle and I had to abandon the picture. I'm still not 100% happy with it but I think it is an improvement on the earlier version which is in my scraps. I wasn't sure if cropping the picture was a good idea or not as I wanted to include some of the other jumps .

Thanks, I spent a long time looking at the map and trying to get the perspective right on the jumps.

I really love the large 'room' you drew with all the other obstacles. The angle is great, too. I always got some problems with those kinda angles where you see so much of the background.

Thank you, it is the crowd in the stands I always have trouble with - they take so long to colour!- Jumps are easy to draw with the line tool, as long as you get the perspective right.

My biggest problem is the perspective. I kinda make the angle too sharp the further I want to go back. XD I always gotta be so careful with that. XD
Yeah, crowds are a lot of work to do. I usually avoid it by doing a lot of colourful, blurred out dots. Lol. XD

I spent months at secondary school learning perspective in art, 25 years later it is coming in useful!

Thank you,
I'm not eating cake at present (yet another diet) so maybe my cravings are coming out in artwork?

Heh, sounds like a good method - maybe I should adopt that...

Food inspired horses? Could I draw one that looks like a nice plate of cauliflower cheese?

Too right
(It is horrendous fun drawing such a bad apple though)

This looks great! I adore your obstacle-drawing skills! Go George, go Rab!
Oh Bunny, don't be too sad, I guess he just had some bad experience with bunnies in his past, maybe...
But I can understand Bunny perfectly, I wouldn't look at someone who suggested killing me, too.

Thanks you,
There was a list of jumps and a map of the course from the show holder so I tried to include as many as I could.
George just likes teasing Bunny.

Thank you, I wasn't too sure about the pose but I had worked on it for along time so I had to upload it,
I guess I can always change it before the competition is judged.
