Description
To draw Dobby (or any other picture you like) open the reference ( [link] )with Gimp and draw the outlines on a piece of paper. Scan it and open it with Gimp. Open a transperant layer over the sketch and copy the outlines. Than you can pick the general colour of different areas and put them on the lower Layer. This way the outlines won't disappear. Now you can unite the two layers and blur the lines into the background. Afterwards you should go into the details. You can always pick the colour you nead from the reference. Maybe exaggerate a bit by making the brightest light reflexes a bit brighter and the shades a bit darker so your drawing looks more alife.
