I'd keep in mind about that. Liking candy isnt really a hobby and You don't really have to like a certain thing to get that as your magic. Assissant fit more as rainbows, as Wallis stated. She's just raised in such a way that she likes black.
So your hat and special magic might've always been decided until you actually get your hat.

Hmm I'm actually not sure! I imagine the hat still exists because its a physical object in that world. Maybe the wand disappears and the hat is reusable for someone else? I'll have to think about it!

The lemon heads are the most awesome abnormalities ever then. They're like talking tumors. Benign ones though. Slightly annoyi but no one knows what they are or where they come from... Hopefully not deadly.
