Description

We are in the middle of an heat wave, so what do I do? DRAW A PIC SET IN A DESERT, of course! ...I'm an idiot...

You can tell nobody is having a great time here. The volcano's eruption destroyed a whole ecosystem and forced the few survivors to flee while those who weren't fast enough simply got burnt alive or covered by volcanic ashes and pumice. Weird alliances were made for the sake of survival... and this far three of them are left way behind, each with their own troubles going on in their heads. Oru, the starnge elderly dinosaur ended up dragging Tio along because of a favour he owed him on the promise (with a huge chance of it being a lie) of finding his parents. He's clearly finding out the hard way Tio is so spoiled by the easy life he had in the jungle it's a wonder he didn't get killed by his own ignorance before he lost all of his baby down! Sure, this is a huge spanner in Oru's plans, but he just couldn't bring himself ot leave a kid wandering alone between the charred corpses of the victims in the now-ashy fields until his lungs turned to stone. Kree is fully aware of this, and even if he knows to *never* trust someone of Oru's kind, he also knows they have no alternatives. While he managed to somehow take care of Tio while in the safety of safe haven far away from the catastrophe, he knows they must find at least a new home that's safe enough for him and hopefully find someone who can take care of him until adulthood... because in a few seasons, Kree will have to fly back across the ocean and Tio will be way too big to be carried along by then. As for Tio... the poor kid is still processing all that happened. As far as he knows, the whole world just went crazy and his past life just ceased to exist because of forces way beyhond his control and now he's there, just following the two adults quietly. He isn't used to walk on the burning sands, he's slowly falling behind, he's thirsty, hungry, the sand keeps getting in his eyes, mouth and nose, he desperately wants to let it all out but he doesn't dare to complain because Oru literally shut him up the last time he dared to do so (His tantrums didn't work on him like it used to be with his parents). He probably doesn't even knows how to grieve properly. Right now he's just feeling numb, no other choices but to just walk forward into whatever else fate as stored for him.

I know, I haven't touched my "remake project" in a long while. Sadly I haven't produced much art in general. The only positive thing this heat did was to probably give me the inspiration to make this piece. The original plan was to take the chance to test out my perspective skills, and we can tell how much I suck at this. Not only that, I'm starting to regret making Oru's feather pattern so complex in the first place! It's a wonder I even managed to get their poses right, while I seem to have finally found a solution for the sand. I must say, I absolutely hated working on Kree, he's supposed to be turning on the left to fly back a bit, but yeah... getting those wings right is a huge pain. He looks so big compared to the others because he's flying high, way closer to the "camera" than the rest of the group. I also tried to make Tio look more accurate, so now he's way fluffier and his arms are posed differently, but of course, he's far from perfect. ALL of this pic is far from perfect! I really need a frozen drink here, hopefully the next piece will be easier on me.
