Maybe you refer to the neck and wing, first a dark base, then you add brush strokes, it creates a irregular texture. Then you start drawing the individual feathers, loosely basing on the irregular "bricks texture". I don't know If I am clear, maybe I should do a tutorial,( next week)

This is an excellent depiction! I think my only question would be the number of rectrices. I think the photos on the original paper show that they were more numerous. Apart from that, very good indeed, especially the head facing more towards us!
