Thank you very much!! Believe me, I HATE painting grass.... I pretty much just slapped down some green, sprinkled in some water and a little salt for texture, and then I picked out where the paint had spread and made little grass tufts out of it. :3

wow that actually sounds a lot like my technique XD though i'll go back and paint a lot more grass blades over the top. I love using salt with watercolours, it makes a very cool effect. Have you ever tried dripping alcohol onto watercolours? Instead of spreading with that coral-like texture water will leave, the alcohol drop spreads much more rounded. For example, a lot of the circular patterns in the sky of this one are by using alcohol. in-the-distance.deviantart.com… I use methylated spirits lol

Ooohh I love salt too!! Sometimes I go back and smooth out the edges because I don't want that hard crystal-ey look to the edges. I have tried alcohol too! I used it in this one actually to get some of the texture in the big rock. I've also tried it for making clouds.... but it hasn't turned out so well yet x.x So far the only successful alcohol attempt I've had is the rock in this painting Hopefully I'll have better luck someday!

ooh cool you've tried alcohol when i mentioned it to my art teacher in my final high school year, he'd never heard of using alcohol with watercolours! I really love the texture of the leaves in this painting it looks really good!

I actually had never heard of it before either! This was the first time I actually put it to use.
